Default TSB for roof pops!

I called my dealer to make an appointment to get the new fix installed on my 2008 coupe and the dealer says there is no TSB! I cant find the thread but I know there was discussion here a few days ago about a new fix that BG has come up with,,,, anyone know the status of this fix and is there a TSB yet?

Thanks!
MCM

While waiting for the TSB, you should really try the E-clip fix. It really does work and it'll only cost you about a buck fifty and take you about two minuttes to install. Here's the thread on the quick fix.

Here's the post about the TSB:

Good Luck!

Wasn't this fixed for the 07s and beyond? I thought the delaminated roof issue was only for 05-06. Or is this something different?

Edit: I see this is a different issue.

It should work on both because the latches are the problem.

mine's at the dealer right now, they did find a bulletin to ghetto them with epoxy, but they don't really want to do it and prefer to get the "redesigned latches" we keep hearing about on the forum here... but i guess they aren't available yet?

I bought two 3/16" E-clips at Sears Hardware for $0.15 each! Took no time to put them on. No pops since. I won't bother messing with any replacement parts unless the pops return. Great $0.30 fix.

Default any TSB for roof pops yet?

GM has been aware of this for a long time... and we at the forum have seen all kinds of posts about how to fix it on our own. But with new car, mine is an 08, GM should fix the issue under warranty already!

Has anyone heard about the promised TSB recently?

Thanks all!

#PIC4867: Creak Or Popping Noise From Roof Near Latches - keyword apillar cover creak guide hard latch left lift panel pillar pin plastic plate pop popping rattle removable right roller rub shield snap squeak - (May 8, 2008)

Subject: Creak or Popping Noise from Roof Near Latches

Models: 2005-2008 Corvette Equipped with Removable Roof Only

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
Snap or pop noise from the removable roof. Cycling the roof latches may eliminate the noise for a period of time. This may be the result of the latch roller making contact with the roller pin when the roof is secured.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Remove the handles from the vehicle's removable roof. Clean the area around the roller with lacquer thinner or acetate to remove all grease or dirt. See roller called out as number 1 in the illustration above.
THE ENTIRE ROLLER MUST BE CLEAN AND DIRT FREE

Force a spade terminal (located in the Packard Terminal Kit J-38125) between the roller and the body (see illustration above). It is important to ensure that the terminal is forced into the space to prevent the roller from moving. This should be done on both sides of the roller (See call out number 2 in the illustration above). Use a hammer to lightly tap each terminal in about 4mm or 3/16". Once the terminals are jammed in behind the roller, bend the exposed portion of the terminal until it breaks off leaving the spade piece jammed on both sides of the roller.

Once the remaining part of the terminal is broken off, the handles should look like number 1 called out in the illustration above.

Place a dab of black epoxy on the roller and body to cover and hold the broken terminals in place. Wipe off the top edge of the roller to provide a smooth surface and allow to dry and reinstall into the vehicle.
Test drive the vehicle and verify the noise has been eliminated.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

Thanks Richierich,
I printed this and took it to my dealer sevice department.... they had no idea where it was from.... I have seen posts here about a GM fix that they were doing at the factory... is anyone aware of a GM document that can be referenced by my dealer on their system? TSB or other docs, part numbers for the fix? My popping noises are getting to be a real pain in the a$$ as the summer heats up!

Thanks all...
