Default Anyone mount subs in rear department of C6

I was wondering if anyone has tried to mount an 8" sub-woofer in one of the rear compartments of a C6. I know they make a sub-box that fits in the back, using the cubby hole but they cost $400. I was thinking of spending good money on a high quality JL 8" sub, and mount it in one of the compatments, maybe even one in both sides. I already have an Amp that will drive one or both subs. Your in-put or advise would be nice. I made a sub box I am using now, sounds great, but hate the room it takes up in the rear of the car.

Check out the audio section. Below is a link I saved when I was planning my Blose replacement, not sure if it still works. 8" won't fit but it can be done with a 7". Was going to do it as shown, but went with a JL-SB to save time.

$400 for just a box, Thanks, but I can do a lot more things to my vette for $400. It is very nice, and I'm sure sounds great, but too much corvette tax for me.

For the record, the JL Stealthbox comes with a 10W3 subwoofer already mounted in it...I agree it still a little on the high side, but what isn't for a Vette

I have the JL stealthbox, it really adds a missing element to the sound.

Why not skip the box and mount them directly through the hatch covers?

You want to be able to put the car back to stock by removing the speaker and replacing the cover...

JL Stealthbox for me. Sounds great and designed to look like it belongs there. Sure it costs a bit extra, but I didn't have to **ck with it. For me, time is very important.
