Default back-up camera - anyone have one in their C6?

My wife's 07 Infiniti M45 has a backup camera tied to her nav system. My C6 does not have a nav system, I selected the 6 CD changer and OnStar.

My question is, how difficult would it be to add an aftermarket system and what would be needed?

Depends on what you want. You can go from $89 at WallyWorld ( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=474471 ) to thousands trying to install a factory NAV with a backup camera. Others have done it. Have you tried a search?

I could use a frontup camera for parking curbs

I have one in use with a pioneer z1 nav unit, looks and works great! They do make rear view mirrors with the screen built in, the only down side is it is pretty big and would probably work better in a SUV.

I have one hooked into a Clarion head unit with NAV. The camera has a license plate bracket which mounts behind the plate itself. All that you can see is the camera above the license plate. It gives a pretty good view, I hardly ever use my rearview mirror anymore. Usually I back into parking spots now because I can see exactly where the rear of the car is.

I have one in my Prowler and would love to get it in my C6. Here's some pics of it installed in the Prowler with a Clarion headunit. It switches to the camera as soon as the car is put into reverse or when I flip the switch in the center console. Maybe this will help you get an idea of what you can do in the C6. Currently I want to put a Clarion MAX675VDII in my C6.

I am in the process of setting up the Walley world camera set from Roadmaster front and rear. Bought first set in Sept. and discovered I needed a seconded camera for the front. Contacted Roadmaster for a seconded camera end of Sept. Well at this time after four sets through the mail I finally collected two that match so I can make a match set of two cameras and one monitor. Seems the first module I purchaced was discontinued so I have to go with a later module. They kept jerking me around to get a match set. So I already had the first one installed, rear compartment pulled apart, all carpeting and hatch surround and wire run under and through to counsel when they said it was discontinued. So with five sets I got two to work together. Now I'm looking for a way to get through the firewall to run the front camera. I have a switch in the counsel to go between front rear and off in place of the power port. I'm still looking for an access through the firewall for the front camera wire. I hope to have this all done by the time I'm back on the road May 1st. It's a cheap way to go but really a run-a-round with vender.

I have one on my car that's wired to a Pioneer D3 head unit.

You can see it here between the exhaust tips:

Yeah...And how about a vibrating drivers seat to stimulate circulation in our big fat buns because we're too lazy to turn around when we're backing up. And when is GM going to integrate a self parking feature into the Vette so a guy doesn't have to risk spilling his beer parallel parking?

Just get an Alpine or Pioneer Nav Hu, a license plate camera and hook up the wires.

That's interesting. I haven't seen that installed before. Is the car you got a week ago a Corvette? If so, what details can you give us on the camera setup?

Thanks.

haha, yes its a 2006 corvette with the 3lt package, as for the setup like i said i did not install it on the car but the camera mounts on a liscence plate frame on the back, when you put it in reverse the LCD screen signal is interrupted by the camera and shows everything behind you
