Another guess that noise (driveline edition)
So I installed a new McLeod twin disk and it currently has around 500 miles on it. I replaced the pilot bearing, clutch, slave and had the flywheel resurfaced. I'm going to be tearing it apart this weekend but thought maybe someone knew what it might be.
Symptoms:
Sounds like a rotating grinding noise.
Clutch in or clutch out it makes the noise, in gear or neutral it makes the noise. It does not get louder as the rpms get higher.
Cold start up it starts making the noise soon after start up. And gets less noisy after car has gotten to operating temp. Sometimes it goes away but other times not.
If I hit a bump it'll make the noise or get louder if it's already going
It seems to make the noise when it wants as I have tried everything to try and make it go away or repeat trying everything. It does it everytime though shortly after start up and then on.
It is pretty loud and sounds like it's coming from the clutch area. The clutch works perfect, there is no vibration and it seems to be louder at idle or moving slow. Maybe it's because I can hear it better over the headers and straight pipes.
When I pull everything out is it okay to run the engine for a few minutes with the clutch being exposed and nothing behind it to see if the noise goes away with the driveline removed?

Most likely cause is your crank balancer is separating.
Verify by looking at the grooves if they are straight or blurry.
If straight most likely one of the other tensioner pulleys. You can either visually look at the tensioner pulley and view the notches if it is up against the two marks the spring is failing. 3 bolts and you are back in business.
Remove the belt one at a time to isolate the problem. Common failure..
just search here for "balancer"

Doubtful that is the cause. I recently removed it to pin and it made the noise before and after this. I installed a blower so I replaced one tensioner and pulley, made the noise before this too.

Your noise sounds exactly like the noise my balancer made.
