Weight of stock C5 wheels VS. C6's VS. Z06's VS. CCW's.
Hey guys, I'm rather new, this is my first thread, I don't own a Corvette as of yet, but I'm just curious.
I haven't really seen many people discuss the weight of wheels, but it's always seemed most important to me, which is why I keep stock 16's on my Camaro, less rotating mass.
So if anyone knows, feel free to post the weight of:
1997-1999 wheels.
2005 C6 wheels.
2001-2004 Z06 wheels.
CCW SP500's.
They don't have to be specific weight amounts, since there are different sizes of each wheel offered, either from CCW or the OEM reproduction company. I'd just like to know overall which style is the lightest.
I've heard CCW's are the lightest of all the other high priced forged wheels, but who knows. I wouldn't know how that compares to a stock wheel. Any input will be appreciated!

Weighed the C5 Z06 Speedline wheels at Just over 20 pounds for the
18x10.5 rears and 19 for the 17x9.5 fronts. At $400-600 used for a set, they are the best wheels for weight concious owners.

Thanks for showing me that, I guess I didn't try enough keywords in the search, pretty helpful.
Well at least I know magnesium OEM wheels are about the best option. That was kind of bothering me.

I posted the weight of the stock rims, vs. ccw classic rims, vs. Z06 chrome motorspotrs rims a while ago. I can't find the thread, but the oem rims and the ccw's were very close in weight. The chrome rims are heavy pigs.

That weight reduction thread that AU N EGL posted claims the magnesium OEM rims are some of the lightest, I believe at 17 pounds for the fronts, and 20 pounds for the rears.

However, low to mid 20lbs / rim is acceptable.
Funny part if some guys what low wt rims, then put heavy tires on the light wt rims. and those magnesium rims, are not easy to mount tires on.
Some shops wont even mount tires on light weight rights, for fear or damaging that rim

2001 C5 Z06 oem wheels: 17x9.5 (19.6lbs) F, 18x10.5 (21.4lbs) R
CCW SP500: 18x10 (21lbs), 19x10 (21.5lbs), 19x11 (23.5lbs)
CCW SP505A: 18x9.5 (21.5lbs), 19x10 (23lbs), 19x11 (25lbs)
Just for comparison, Iforged Classics: 18x9.5 (24lbs), 19x11 (27lbs)
So stay with stock rims if you want the lighest. CCW SP500 is the next best choice for look and light weight. From my experience, I can tell the difference when there is at least a 1.5lbs difference in wheel weight.

The oem c5 Z06 size should be 17x9.5 F and 18x10.5 R
As for tires, the lightest are usually Michelins and Continentals.
