Default Any one use Bed Liner in (or under) their vette for sound dampening?

It was suggested to me that spray in Bed Liner like used in pickups would work good for sound dampening if applied inside (and outside) the rear tub. Wonder if anyone has tried this and what was the results.

Never heard of anyone doing that. I would think if you add it to the thickness that would do any good it would be pretty heavy.

Since spray-in bedliner is used to protect the paint, I'd surmise that it forms a very solid surface directly in contact with the body of your car.

In other words, the perfect thing to CONDUCT sound.

If you're gonna take the back of the interior apart - a lot of the folks here have installed the "Frost King" stuff you can get at the home improvement places. I know there have been a bunch of threads about this - the one that comes to mind is StangKiller18.....

I did a search on insulation installation and got several results....

Here's one of them - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...n+installation

I did not use the spray on material.
I used Dynamat extreme for sound deadening (panel vibration), and then used B-quiet's Vcomp for a sound barrier layer with excellent results.

See thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=989605

Good luck...well worth it.

I also will add a Lloyd's cargo mat to finish the job.
I will post DB reduction values when the Vette gets out of hibernation.

Yep. It works wonders in this application. You can paint it to match the car too.

Go to http://www.quietcar.net/?google

This is a paint on product that according to them is better than all the mats. Use 2gal for the rear and 5gal if you do the whole car. Follow the same instructions as to where to install it as the mats. I have used it and it is GREAT!! Put on at least 2 coats with a brush three would be better.

That looks really good. You could do the frost king thing on top of it if you wanted.

But I'd need to find out a bit more about it before using it.
