Default B-Quiet Vcomp install...sound deadening project...

I initially installed Dynamat extreme as a sound deadening material. It works as a "dampener" for the panel vibration which generates sound. It also blocks sound to some degree. As noted in previous posts, my DB reduction after the Dynamat was not as good as I wanted. I had installed Dynamat in the rear hatch area, in the cockpit, and in the rear wheel wells of my 2004 CE Coupe.
I went to http://www.b.quiet.com and ordered two sheets of their "Vcomp" sound deadening material (13.5 square feet per sheet).

This is a 3/8 inch thick material consisting of a dense open cell foam with a vinyl based polymer barrier attached. Here's a few pictures of the Vcomp.

I installed the Vcomp in the rear hatch area, and cut two panels to slip behind each seat (it slid under the carpeting easily behind the seats). It is installed with the foam side down on the Dynamat. I didn't want to remove the seats again, so I did not do the cockpit except behind each seat.

Here's some pictures of the install. The pieces just lay down nicely (it's pretty heavy), and did not require any spray adhesive. I did tape the Vcomp on the wheelwells, which really just temporizes until the carpet is replaced which holds it securely to the Dynamat. Carpet re-installed easily (though I made sure there was a 1/4 inch gap where the carpet could slide under the speaker housings, etc.).

Now, I have to wait for a nice day to get the Vette out for a road test, and rerun the DB's. I'll post the findings when I can. The Vcomp seems to be very solid, and I anticipate a real benefit.

Well that product looks good. It appears to have a rubber backing and with the foam on one side this should make some gains towards deadening the sound entering the cabin. Keep us posted. This is always a popular subject around here.

Looks like a nice install job you did. Let us know how well it solved the noise problem.

It was up to 50 degrees today...
I was able to sneak the Vette out today for a drive, and the sound reduction was fabulous. I got the results I hoped for.
Unfortunately, my sound man was not able to make the run, so I did not get DB readings...but I am sure they will reflect significant improvement when I can get out again.
The 2 sheets of Vcomp, total of 13.5 square feet per sheet, finished the rear hatch area and the panels behind the seats. I had about 3 sq.feet left over. The two sheets cost $118 with shipping from B-quiet.com.

Snow and ice in the forecast for Ohio again.

Check out this stuff www.lobucrod.com
It looks like the same stuff used in C5cowboys kits,
of course its not pre-cut but $28.00 for 40 s.f. is not bad.
check out the Product Pics looks familiar. Its going to be tough to choose
from all these choices when I do this mod.
