Plasti-Dip in Engine in Engine Compartment???
Has anyone used plasti dip in the engine compartment? I am thinking about doing my reservoir tank and the covers with all the factory stickers on them. Just would like to know if plasti dip can handle the heat inside the compartment? A lot cheaper than painting it!
Thanks

Melting Slicks
I am planning to paint the underside of my hood with it. I believe it will hold up because I used it on the shroud around my exhaust tips. It gets very hot. After a year there is no bubbling or blistering.

I'd actually asked about something similar in the PlastiDip uber-thread, I'm interested in peeling off my hood liner and doing the underside of the hood.
Someone was talking about doing that mod, not aware if they've done it yet, but they did point out that the lower rear valence (which I've done) is right next to the exhaust tips and holds up just fine with that heat.
Doing the reservoirs is actually a pretty good idea. I've got a spare washer fluid reservoir for a planned alky setup, I may give that a go this weekend to see how it turns out.

I just bought some used reservoir cover that are MSG and don't feel like spending money to have them painted black, I though the plastidip would be a cheap idea for now to see how it looks and also do the fender covers next to them so it all looks the same.
I bought the covers as I can't star the looks of the stock reservoirs, looks like the 80s. I like clean, simple and smooth!
I'm going to try it and see how it looks, I'll post up pics in a week or 2 when car is back together!

Someone, a good while back, actually filled in the grooves on their reservoirs (don't recall if it was bondo or glass filler or what) and sanded them smooth. I'd be tempted to do that at some point, but that's mainly because I have a very strong aversion to taped-on visual upgrades.

I'm re doing a lot in my engine compartment, I'll start a thread when it's done.

Burning Brakes
I'm going to try my tanks tomorrow. Been thinking about this for a while. My tanks were painted TR to match the car but have peeled so I want to see if I can do a quick cover up with the pd.

Plasti Dip web site states it was tested at 200* without any integrity loss!
This stuff should be fine for engine compartment temps like the underside of a hood!
If someone does any engine compartment items, please post up pics and how well it holds up to 200+ degrees!

I have it on my battery cover.
No issues! I actually have a sticker over the plasti dip, and due to sun fade, engine temp, etc. the sticker is bubbly and faded but the plasti dip is good!
My car also gets quite hot and saw direct sunlight with car shows. BUT directly around the engine, who knows.....

Interesting way to use Plasti-Dip. Didn't think it could hold up to higher temps, but sounds like it just might.

maybe do a sample piece of plastic , that you could secure in the engine compartment for a test. I used just plain ole paint on mine and its holding up fine, haven't got to play with plastic dip yet.
