Default hood pins on a c5?

i have seen hood pins on a lot of muscle cars both old and new and i kind of like the look.

i recently bought an aftermarket hood and im thinking about using hood pins with it but im not sure if it will look good on a c5 because they don't have the same look as a muscle car being so much more curvy and all.

has anyone used them or seen them on a c5 and can post pics so i can see if i like it or not?

thanks,
dave

Why not install 3 vents on your front fenders while you are at it? Another sidenote about hood pins...they are intended to keep the hood from coming unlatched at high speed so the hood doesn't flop over and obstruct your vision while racing, GUESS WHAT? A corvettes hood opens up the opposite SO HOOD PINS ARE USELESS!

And I surely wouldn't want the guys who know cars look at my hood pinned vette and laugh at it!

Edited to add, but hey, it's your car do with it what you want...it's your privilege! My apologies.

i am aware of what they are used for and that they are useless on a vette. i just want to see how it looks.

on a side note i have seen them on lots of c3's where the hood opens the same as a c5. sometimes it looks good sometimes it doesn't

Hood Pins, really? It's your car and you can do whatever you want to it!

As the old saying goes, it is your car so do what you want and don't worry what others say, but as we all know, you will hear from those that don't care for the idea.
I have not seen hood pins on a street car (except oder muscle cars) in some time now and I don't think I have every seen them on a Corvette.

the issue is i dont know if i want to do it because i want to see what it looks like first because theres a good chance it won't look good.

Jmho... I think they would look like $HIT on a C5, and why add non-functional additional components As others have said; it's your car, but if you really want to enhance the look of that part of the car why not consider an aftermarket hood? There are some really great looking ones out there that can give you more of the aggressive muscle car look you're going for...

Great post from a person running a rear spoiler! As seen in the link in another post - some folks like the look of the pins just as you enjoy the look of your useless spoiler

I have never seen a C5 with hood pins. To me, they just would not go with the lines of the car. I can see where you would want to see a pic of the pins since I certainly wouldn't want to drill into an aftermarket hood only to find out it does not look good at all. One idea is to see if someone can photoshop the hood pins on a picture of the hood of a C5 and you could at least get some idea of what it would look like.

Your car, your money so it's up to you whether you go with this idea or not, but I think the general consensus is this is one mod that is not recommended. Good luck on whatever you decide.

The previous owner of my car had hood pins, see post #12 of the below thread:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-c...l-bar-etc.html

They were positioned in the area of the stock front hinges (hood hacked with recip saw to remove hinge mounts), so opening the hood became a 2 person job (or 1 person who didn't care about scraping things up).
