Default Hood pins, who's got 'em? Who likes/dislikes 'em and why?

Considering removing the latches/cables/etc and going with pins. Hood is aftermarket, car is rapidly evolving AWAY from stock so I don't care about that.

So who has pins? Got pics??

Thx,

-steve in mtl

I havent seen any cars with hood pins on them here on the forum.

Normally they are on the front of the car hoods, but then most cars are hinged at the back. With the Vette, the pins would be in the back, and I am not sure that I would like that look.

OK, so I retract my statement of not having seen any cars with hood pins on the Forum. Actually I still havent, but hopefully lvrpool32 will post some cool shots of his car so I can see what they look like.

i tried to find some on here last year. Very hard to come by. i finally had 1 guy post some pictures of his setup after over a month of asking. I think they look great. you have to mount them on that fiberglass section that goes in front of the windshield wipers. Seems pretty solid. find a good set nd go with it!

Yeah, I'm leaning a little towards L-88 theme myself obviously...

pics would be great, especially of where you mounted the pins on the car and of hood from underneath showing holes.

On a performance car, maybe, if needed at the track. In the 80's it could be found on anything includng a 4-door Matador stationwagon, kind of became American Rice stuff, turned me off.

I have a pin on hood with no frame no hinges, just 4 pins.
It's about 1/2 the weight and makes everything easier.

Just curious, but besides the looks of them, is there really a practical reason for them? just wondering

When I used to use the car as a daily driver in winter, it was a major hassle to get the hood open in the cold. Out of frustration I would pull the release vigorously, usually screwing up the mechanism.

My latches just would not work consistently, so for the sake of convienience (not looks) I put them on.
