Default My TI exhaust bit the dust

So I had noticed what sounded like a heat shield rattle ... could not pin point it then took it to my tuner who found the rattle in the exhaust muffler part of the TI ... Choice to let it rattle was simple for me but he suggested to put it on the dyno compare the pull to the last ... We were down 14 HP from last time .... Un bolt it and a net increase of 16 hp over last time ... so thought is that something is busted loose in there blocking the flow out... Anyone else ever had this?

There isn't really anything in there that could come loose and block airflow.

You'll see all there is is some pipes and the steel wool, which doesn't look like it's going anywhere...

very cool post.... Maybe something in my cat broke free and worked its way in there .... something is rattling I think drop the exhaust and turn it upside down and shake the poop out of it ... see if anything falls out..

Thanks for posting the link which details the inside of a Ti muffler.

I had a metal matrix high flow cat come apart on me. Most of the material ended up in the right hand Ti muffler. The car didn't seem to have the power on the top end anymore. I also noticed that the exhaust tips from the left side where turning blue. I was running LG headers, cats, and x pipe. I was able to get most of it out by beating and banging and flushing with water. I ended up replacing with GHLs.

Not on the Vette but the cat on my son's Flowmaster broke down causing a blockage. It was a write off unfortunately. I took forever to work that one out
