Number one cause is probably a low battery.

I had an aftermarked Sony radio alread installed when I bought my 1991 coupe. It also flashed sys sys until i took it to a good mechanic
that fixed this problem for me by adding a low wattage light bulb to the circuit. I suspect the resistor would have been better yet, since a light bulb may eventually burn out.

sys sys sys and aftermarket radios
It is my understanding that there is circuitry within the factory radio that could read ambient light and adjust the radio light level accordingly. When the factory radio is removed, this feature goes with it, and the car computers recognize the loss of this part of the radio and cause the sys sys sys flash on the speedometer. So no, this in itself would not be worth worrying about. That said, you need to verify that that is really what the car is trying to warn you about. The best article that i have ever found that explaines all the codes and how to get them out of yor car is found here: http://tech.corvettecentral.com/2011...trouble-codes/
It shows you how to get the codes and what they mean.
The mechanic i took my car to used a small light bulb to connect to this part of the non-used wiring harness to mimic the factory component that was no longer there. I am sorry, but am not sure about which wire it was. I believe it was a Grey / Black wire on the radio harness. I do have Section 8A of the factory service manual, and if it would be helpful, i could try and scan it and see if i could include it in a reply to this forum.
