OK UPDATE! repairs went way better then expected... with that rear quarter off swapping the tank was easy as anything
liquid nails DID NOT WORK (very well... shocker i know) BUT the loctite adhesive worked better then the factory stuff... its not going anywhere. (not bad for $8 a tube)

To bond SMC and Fiberglass together with each other you need the proper equipment. Please tell me you did not actually try liquid nails or Loctite?!?
This is what you need:

Do yourself a favor and sand it off now and start over. While it may seem strong in your hand, whatever you used is not designed to make a chemical reaction to fuse to the SMC parts of the car. Driving around will cause vibrations which will make the Loctite crack and break. Either way you are going to have to re-do the project, might as well do it now before you paint it.

Just out of curiosity... WHY didn't I get these kind of answers earlier... 87bob email me pics of the stuff you have looks like I'll be taking it...
Oh and I haven't put any on the car yet just on big old broken quarter panel chunks... The stuff holds up pretty nicely but even so I'll do it the right way

As for responses, I spend most of my time in the road race section and very little in C4 gen. There is also a paint and body section which would have gotten great answers pretty quickly.
I used that 3M product to cover the headlight opening on my car, and help bond a hood scoop. Here is the hood thread if you need some reference:
