Faint gas odor
Sometimes when i shut it off after a ride i smell a faint odor of gas. I've parked it over cardboard and don't see any drip spots and i've opened the hood quickly after a ride and checked all over the motor. Anyone have any ideas . It worries me. 87C4 stock

Might be an injector continuing to leak into the cylinder after shutoff.

Think i might have found the problem, but not sure yet. checking out the canister i found some stuff thats not right and my book doesn't show the routing of the lines. I have a line that goes to the cruise cont. and up behind the phlenum to what looks like a diapram or a check valve my book doesn't show what it is (blue). and the same line goes to the canister and is just stuck on the canister band screw to dead end it and one of the steel lines that comes from the canister turn into rubber is just wide open. What i realy need is a diagram to show me where the lines are supposed to go. It's not in my repair manual. They all look like the original lines but they have been tampered with. I'll have to replace all of them because of dry rot. Gotta know where they were originaly 87C4

There is a small section of rubber hose that is a flex joint for one of the vapor return lines.
It's located just in front of the L/R tire. So when you open the door, you get fumes.

I took some pictures and video of the vaccuum lines on my 85, and they are at this link;

also, there is a diagram of the vaccuum lines on this thread;

I hope that helps.

I drive myself nuts when things aren't right---Maybe i can discribe some of it better--There's 2 lines to the purge solinoid or relay i'm not sure what to call it ,looks like an in line and out line . There both metal and turn to rubber, the one that doesn't go to the canister is just an open line i'm assuming thats a vent??(small line maybe 3/16)... The one that drives me nuts is the one that is attached to the cruise then goes up by the distributer to a blue thing with other lines attached to it. I follow that line to where the canister compartment is and it is just hanging there dead ended with a screw in the end of it to block it of. 87C4
