Some people have soaked the parts in a cleaner like auto zone's purple cleaner or simple green. Pealed the rest of the coating off. then clean sand, prime and paint it with semi gloss paint. You do have to do almost all of the plastic if you want them all to look the same. Do a search there are better posts explaining how to do this. It's alot of work but cheaper than new parts are!
