Take the car to a shop that specializes in auto interiors. Have them fix the rip in the seat and the top. Then have it professionally detailed and put it on your local Craigslist. Start a bit high and see what happens.
Here is a link to the Pacific NorthWest section of the Forum. I'll bet you can find some local experts who will be more than willing to help you out.
Tell your husband we are praying for him. May God bless you and your family.

Start at $8500.00 with the intention that you may have to go lower. But no lower than $7000.00. Some here will tell you it's only worth $3000.00, unless they owned it. $7000.00 is a fair price for a convertible in the condition you stated. Don't let your unfortunate circumstances right now (which I hope get better real soon) let someone take advantage of you.

I paid $6k for a very original 86 Coupe with 63k miles on it a little over a month ago, I would think your husband's car would be a couple ticks above mine, and being a convertible may have some additional appeal.
Check this out - it'll give you a datapoint to compare against:

Good luck, and I hope your husband gets well REAL SOON!

Is that a 67 GTX next to the Vette?

Here is a rundown of his car:
1989 red corvette convertible
62,000 miles
tan soft top and tan leather interior
runs great and no mechanical problems
has small ding on one back bumper
has a two-inch tear in driver's seat
seats are worn but in decent shape otherwise
top has tear in back part but not terrible

Also, there should be a label on the underside of the center console lid. It will have a list of codes representing all of the options that came with the car. For an 89 convertible some that could add value are:
B2K
CC2
FX3
G92
MN6

He is offering you a low ball price. You should be able to get between $5500-$6500, even with the issues you discribe. I would not go less them $5500.
Sorry to hear about you troubles and hope everything works out.

Very sorry to hear about your husband. In addition to going to the C4 forum, as suggested above, go to the Events & Regional area and post in your local forum. Don't hesitate to ask if anyone in your local area would be willing to take a look at the car and give you further advice. I'm sure given your situation, there will be good folks on the forum who will be more than willing to help you.

I have always found doing a search on autotrader.com and cars.com in your area will give you an idea of what to ask.
Remember to ask $2-3k more than what you want, as you can come down in price and not go up.

I took the liberty of posting a link to this thread in the Pacific Northwest forum, which includes Portland.
The forum is like family and members are always willing to help, especially in difficult circumstances. If you need any help in looking at the car to help price it, or even to help you assess offers, don't hesitate. Check this thread as well as this one.

I just found my way here from the Pac Northwest Forum, thanks to John-F for posting the link there.
I would be happy to help BUT I know NOTHING about C4's. Please be patient. We have several current and former C4 owners in the PNW Forum. I'm sure we will be able to assist but things can take a few days for everyone to drop in and see it. I suggest you post your needs in your own thread in the PNW Forum, or, if you aren't comfortable with that, just wait and keep checking in here.
Once again, link to the Pacific Northwest Forum:

But keep updating your status often so we know.
Best of luck to you and your husband.

I am a C4 owner, and I also live within reasonable distance of you.
I agree with most posters on here, that your neighbor is majorly low-balling you.
Don't cave.
I dont know where abouts in Portland you live, but there is a Corvette mechanic a bit north of there that is dependable, and extremely knowledgeable, (also a member of the Corvette Forum), and if you called him and spoke with him, I am sure he could either look over your car and tell you a reasonable value or refer you to someone that could.
His name is TJ Wong, his shop is in Vancouver, and his shop phone number is:360-895-9433.
He is a stand-up guy and anyone on the Pacific Northwest forum I am sure will agree.
If you need any other help, just let us know, we are there for you. Good luck to you and your husband.

My husband is seriously ill and I'm trying to sell his corvette for him. I'm hoping someone here can tell me if I'm being fair or not. If not, then please tell me what website out there might be a good start to get some advice. Kelley blue book doesn't cover '89s.
Here is a rundown of his car:
1989 red corvette convertible
62,000 miles
tan soft top and tan leather interior
runs great and no mechanical problems
has small ding on one back bumper
has a two-inch tear in driver's seat
seats are worn but in decent shape otherwise
top has tear in back part but not terrible
A neighbor just offered me $3500 and I think it is way too low. I was originally going to ask 5 or 6k..but he brought up the fact it needs a new top and that it has a ripped seat. He also questioned the miles being so low. I was a bit insulted by that but I'm trying to keep my cool.
Anyway...if I'm not allowed to ask all this here, my apologies..but I have no experience with all of this.
Thank you either way.
