ZR1 Magnesium rims + brembo brakes system
I am about to redefine the wheels and brakes for my C4 for reaching the lightest possible rotating set , with race quality products.
So far I have found a brembo calipers and disc kit (originaly for porsche) than fit nicely onto the C4 (kit fits the C4 HD J55 braket) but I also have to change the rims and I want some magnesium 17 inchs wheels with the ZR1 look.
Unfortunatly, I can only find aluminium wheels and was wondering if someone has found such rims .
Thanks

Someguys run Dymags on their ZR1s. I have seen a few Zs with these lightweight wheels on them and they are beautiful!
Here are the wheels I am talking about. They would normally have the 1989 center cap over the lugs but this guy put a smaller cap in the middle.
The last set I saw for sale in a ZR1 width was pricey. Someguy paid over $4,000 for the set. Some have sold for more
There is another Dymag design as well, but for that guy, it is not proving to be as light as the ones above

The C5's had a magnesium wheel that was an option. The front wheels were a 5-spoke design similar to the stock C5 wheel but with slightly thicker spokes. They were a sort of dull gold in color (painted). IIRC, the wheels were a $2000 option. The C5 front wheels were 17" and had a 56mm offset so they would work on 88 and later C4's
Not sure, but wasn't there a period in time when new Corvettes that were European imports required to have magnesium wheels? Does French vehicle laws require you to use magnesium wheels??

I agree. C5 wheels does not like right onto C4.(In my opinion).
Those magnesium wheels from dymag are absolutly fabulous and are the ones I am looking for.
I checked and they are still manufacturing them in 17 inches. 4000$ is the correct price for new ones. They are the closest from ZR1 look.
The guy said me they are also available in carbon magnesium 2 pieces but for 1500$ each.

That street scene looks familiar. I looked at it before I saw your screen name to the left and I thought "holy smoke that has got to be Columbus Georgia..." Sure enough it is! Is that Windsor Park! Who owned those cars?

I really love the genII dymags, but these C5 mags look awsome, and are very close to the A-mold design.
Please tell...how do you get these "cheap"?

If you simply want light, there seem to be many forged aluminum wheels that are as light or lighter than the Dymags were. Fikse's FM5 in 17x11" is about 19-20 lbs, and is one of their heavier wheels.
I think those C5 export wheels are awesome looking. But I think they are like 17x8.5" and 18x9.5" or something along those lines. They seem to sell for quite cheap. Anyone know how much they weigh?

I too have 2 sets of Brembo monoblock calipers (Porsche) and I need to get some brackets manufactured so any new info is indeed very interesting.
