Default Please show me your wheels...

I am looking for aftermarket wheels for a 1968 Corvette convertible. I would prefer to find an 18" but 17" would be my second choice. If you have or know of any 18" or 17" wheels that will work with this car and clear the calipers I would certainly appreciate the name and manufacturer of the wheel and pictures if you have them on your Vette.

Next question will be what are the widest tires I can run on those wheels?

I have been alternating between 2 sets of tires and wheels on this car for years and I am tired of all the work. I run 255-60-15 Goodrich radial TAs on 15"x8" Chrome Rallye Wheels for everyday driving and when I show the car I put the stock 15"x7" Painted Rallye wheels with Firestone F70-15 redline biased tires on it.

I know the 255's just make it and I even had to use radiator hose clamps to hold back the parking break cable so it didn't rub a groove in the inside side wall.

Now plan to put nice aftermarket wheels with maybe a lower profile runflat on it and see if I can find someone that can cut redlines into the tire. If you know someone that does that I would appreciate the info.

Thanks for any help you can render!

Thanks, your car looks great. Those wheels are like what I had in mind but I want to try and know what my choices are before I buy. I was hoping to find some 18" wheels for 2 reasons; 1. I'd like to put rinflats on it and there are more selections in 18" and 2. I'd like to stay as close to stock tire OD as possible. I think stock was F70-15 which is something like a 26.9" OD. Your tire is probably closer to a 25.7" OD. Still yours looks good. Did you lower your car?

Any other suggestions out there?

This is a "Coys" C5 Chrome, 17X8, with a spinner cap.

Same wheel with the bullet cap

The wheels seem to suit the car well and are reasonable priced.

Visit coyswheels.com for sizing and selection if you like them.

If you like the "minilite" style wheel (thats the gold wheel on the red 68) then look up Team III (lt wheel) or Vintage Wheel Works (V48), they do 17 and 18" versions of that wheel. My favorite vintage "race" style wheel.

These are actually Western Superlites, 15 x 8 1/2. Very similar to Minilites, and current Panasports. My spokes are painted gold, but I may repaint them Argent, as they were when new.

Not on the car yet, but here's some 17"ers from Vinatge Wheel Works, theyre' the Cobra style

Mine are MEGA wide ( 17x11 on rear) and will need L88 flares, but they sell em in most any width and backspace you want if your'e looking to fit the stock wheel wells
