Wiper motor removal
How difficult is it to remove and reinstall a wiper motor?
Any work under the dash for me is tough at best.
Are there any hints, tricks, or steps that would make it easier?
Thanks in advance for any tips you might have.

Yes there is under dash work...you will have to remove the arms from the motor... there is a clip that needs to be removed from the motor.

I believe that you need to remove the glove box, and then access the wiper motor. As mentioned, there is a clip for the arms and 3 or 4 bolts that need to be removed from the dash side of the firewall.
I have A/C on my 64 and it was really tough getting around the ducts. I believe that a Non-A/C car is a bit easier.
Take pictures of the position of the wiper arm rods so you can place them in the proper position for install.
Steve Hackel is the guy to get your wiper motor rebuilt.

Remove the negative from the battery, disconnect the wiper motor electrical connections and place some rags/towels between the wiper motor and the engine (once the bolts are removed from the wiper motor it may drop, mine did) Remove the glove box and you should be able to see the motor. 4 - 5/16" bolts IIRC holding the motor in. Removing the arms - I just unbolted the nut and left the arms attached to the cam or what ever you would call it, I suppose that's why my motor dropped out. You'll see what I mean.
I cleaned the guts of the assembly and re-greased it, tested it on the bench and re-installed it. That's the hard part. You need to have someone hold /lift/twist the motor to align the first couple bolts.
I should still have a link to the testing and cleaning info on the wiper motor. Let me know and I'll have a look.

Here is how I got mine out!
Just kidding, but this is a good photo to demonstrate how deep it is in the dash.
If you zoom in on the photo you can see the four bolts and where the two arms come together.
Good luck.

I also removed the distributor cap to help provide a little more clearance when pulling the wiper motor. The inside was not too bad on mine since I had removed most of the dash parts to install a new wiring harness.

Steve Hackel did my wiper and headlight motors also. He is in the Chicago area. I dropped my motors off at his house on Monday and picked them up (fully restored) on Thursday. Very fast turn around.
