Ignition switch removal
What's the trick? I'd imagine the tumbler has to come out but how? I want to replace the bezel but can't get the switch apart?
Thanks

you are suppose to turn it all the way to the left past off. then put a paper clip or wire in the hole and press a small brass button. then turn
the key left some more. it then pulls out. however my 63 had two holes
and would not go past off. the brass ball is on the rim next to the
lock mech. i had to get jungle with mine. it finally pulled just the outer
trim off. then i pressed the brass ball. i was lucky my napa dealer which never has any stock had the switch and lock mech for a 63. just did this
friday when smoke started coming out of my speaker area. switch started
to melt the black plastic wiring harness on the back. jim

Thanks I'll look for the hole. Don't remember it but will look again.

There should be a small hole in the face of the switch. Insert a paper clip n that hole and with the key in the switch turn it to the left {accessory position} and it should come apart. To put it back together reverse the procedure....I use to do it for customers all the time and I think the above is the correct way.
sorry, another reply had it right that I missed

PS Don't think there is an accessory (ACC) position on a '58 .... I know there isn't one on my '61..

Thanks Frankie we knew you were a man of restraint! Most women I meet are in the lock position.
