Immediately, you can put some lube/grease in the holes up front where the latches go.Right down in there where the shiny part is up front. Then, look in to new latches from the dealer that gm issued a while back.

Melting Slicks
there is no permanent fix, the popping and squeeking will come back, there is no fix, just a temporary band-aid - grease, reposition, e-clips, felt, take your pick, all temporary...

I must be lucky, two years and no more popping. I did the following:
1. Make sure the pins on the targa top are tight.
2. Make sure the roller retainers (the metal retainer the roller sits in when secured) do not have play in them. Bend the metal tabs to remove any play. One of my retainers were lose and made noise.
2. Install the e-clips on the rollers.
3. Lube the rollers, retainers and pins with Dielectric grease.
4. Apply silicone spray on the top weatherstripping.
Every six months I will lube all the above areas and (knock on wood) no more popping or clicking.
OR GET THE NEW HANDLES, BUT SOME HAVE REPORTED THE NOISE RETURNED!

You may want to check out this other thread, I had the same problem and I went to Sears and bought the clips and a little grease and its all gone. It's amazing, if your out of warranty is $160.00, go to Sears and spend $1.00 and you get the same result.

I usually treated the weather stripping on my 09 about once a month since new.
It took about 7 months before I started getting the popping sound.
Treated the weather stripping and put a little white grease on the pins and rollers.
Stopped the noise right away

My GS coupe without rollers in the handles pops like popcorn with any tweak of the body or pothole (California). Lubed many times. Dealer lost. There used to be a link for those without rollers and the fix including gromets on the posts, gluing the plastic to the windshield, etc. Anyone have it? About 20 pages long
