Weird / different PF64 filter
Anyone know what's up with these different PF64 filters? The one on the right is what I've been using. Just ordered a new batch for my 2018 Z51 and they are all like the one on the left. Looking at the bottom they are clearly different and the part numbers are also different (left is 25206966, right is 12696048)

Hopefully it has the 22 psi by-pass valve.

ACDelco puts their name on them, I'm sure they're fine. Probably a different supplier for them by the looks of some of the writing on the top of package.

Call mw suspicious but I see too much of a design change to be the Beta tester.
I'll wait until on this new design until proven out.
I have a lot of PF64 filters that the P/N ends in 445. (Original Version).

I agree w/ the OP, those are 2 radically different filters. All this crap over the last 4 years that I have owned my Stingray makes me want to go to Mobil1, or Wix or? I was looking for a number that ended in 595. My file shows that 595# was good one as of 12/2023, 6 months ago. Now that seems gone. Pretty sure also that info on this forum was saying 048 was not a good # to use. Looking right now at an online GM parts seller they list 2 filters. One called a Gold is a PF64F # ending in 865. But the illustration shows a plain blue PF64. They also list a UPF64R w/ a 50% gold label that says UltraGuard Gold and a # ending in 847. This ACDelco info is such a mess, and changes so often it is disgusting. I have one more 595 on hand but who knows what info we will have when I need another filter.

Just got the same ones / Purchased from Amazon/Amazon (seller). Seem legit as construction looks to match with the nylon core-etc. Same box too/etc. Would seem if you got yours from Rock Auto and mine from Amazon and they appear to match, they must be a new rev/mfg of AC Delco.

GM sure does waste a lot of R&D which = $$$$.
Note: oil filter design has been around for quite a long time, if they can't get it right by now, well............
I wish they would redirect their attention to more important issues in a timely manner such as wheels, ATF fluid etc.....
You know the little things that have cost the consumer lots of $$$$
How about adding a door in the carpet over the battery, I'm sure GM could do this for less than 5 - 10 million dollars..........
Maybe not, but oil filters all the stops are out!

As to the ""I was looking for a number that ended in 595. Hope it helps.

Melting Slicks
Technology does change from 10 years ago. I am sure we don't want to use filters made with 1990's material. It's a good thing when newer technologies are introduces, normally.

My guess is that GM has a new application they need a filter for, and then build a new filter for it, which also meets the specs of the prior applications. This way, one filter will suffice for multiple applications.

There are other car companies who handle updates a LOT more sanely. Using the #s from Ventor instead of this;
12640445
12696048
12706595
25206377
25206966
we would have
12640445
12640445A
12640445B
12640445C
12640445D
So when you are used to buying say, the B version, and go to the store and see the C version, you would immediately know it is the new version of what you have been using. If it works better for computer systems to have the same # of characters in all the numbers, just start w/ the A number. Just think, the dozens of oil filter threads in the 4 years I have been on this forum wouldn't need to exist. Seems simple to me.
