Car blew up
Was accelerating shifted into 5th heard grinding noise got locked out and white smoke was coming out of the exhaust. Pulled off and the car won’t start. What could this issue be?

It would be helpful if you told us what car you have. According to your member name, I would assume you have a 2001.

Sounds like your LS7 might have LS7ed (i.e. Valve has left the chat) ... without more info though its hard to say. Heads been fixed on it previously?

It could also be a failed head gasket and it hydrolocked. Or lost compression and won't start d/t that. Hard to say without hearing more symptoms and mileage and of course, with OP having only two posts, there is the possibility of a troll.

not a troll as I stated before new to forums I got the car towed there was only so much I could do when I’m sitting on the side of the highway cars flying by me at 70 mph + also hard for me to tell was just driving had music playing and started making a weird grinding noise and white smoke was coming out the exhaust when I was putting it into gear pulled off on the shoulder nothing was leaking from under the car and it wouldn’t start. Thanks for the help though

Is the engine seized? Either way, I’d start by pulling the plugs and see if any of them were damaged by a dropped valve, or look unusual. If the engine does rotate, a leak down test would soon tell you if a hole was punched though a piston, or if you had a failed head gasket. You could also pull off the valve covers to see if anything doesn’t look right.

I agree with Fats, Leak down test is the starting point if the motor still turns over. If its seized you can skip that and start pulling it out to assess the damage

White smoke is an indication of a failed head gasket. Based on the info you provided, that's all I can tell you. Take the plugs out and try to turn the engine over. If it cranks, then next do a compression test. If that's good then do a cooling system pressure test. One of these two tests, or both, are bound to fail. If so, then time to start taking apart the engine. Let me know what you find.

Maks2001, try posting a thread in the C6 Z06 section of the forum. Lots of guys there with experience with the Z06 dropped valve issue. Hopefully that is not the case with your Z06, but hopefully get some more opinions and advise over there also.

Is the coolant low?

however, the "gooey" chocolate milk may also be seen on the oil dip stick. This is just one of the reasons when I dropped in an LS7 short block in my narrow body, I used the heads off of the LS2 engine I had. Ported and polished and 66cc chambers on the normally 70cc of the 427 raised the compression a bit, and they work like a champ, even with the A & A S/C. I think he probably either blew the head gasket (doesn't happen very often as far as I can investigate), but probably more inclined to believe he dropped a valve. Whatever it is it doesn't sound good. I wish you luck my friend......let us know what you find out, I will be curious to see what the cause was.
