It's a nice ailment
My '64 RestoMod is almost ready for paint. In fact I've already done the jambs etc. This post isn't about that, I'll have lots of pictures of it on here once it's done. In the meantime I got a call from a friend of mine saying he thought a local Corvette might be for sale. I really don't "need" another C2 (I already have the '64 almost done and a C6....) but I thought what the heck and decided to follow up on his call and contacted the owner who happens to be an old friend of mine also.( I live in a small town.....) . Long story short, when I saw it I remembered it as a local C2 that I tried unsuccessfully to buy many times in the 70's. It was covered in dust and hadn't run for a year or so and before that it had been stored in a barn for many years. It now is in my shop and I'll try to not touch it until I get my '64 done. It's a number matching '66, 4Spd, 300 HP car. Original SunFire Yellow lacquer with straight out of the 70's graphic paint panels on it. In the last year the previous owner had Vintage Air put in as well as a new interior. Basically all it it needs is a new paint job which when the owner found out the cost of a paint job decided to sell. I do all my own body and paint work so it's a perfect fit for me. Check out this time machine in the pictures.

If mine, I'd be sooooo tempted to leave the '70s patina alone and enjoy it for what it was.

How could you refuse? Nice vibe - The 6 taillights definitely complete the look! I would have a tough time choosing a direction

You should have played the lottery that day. I agree with Mr Lockwood. Wash and wear.

Since you already have "nice Corvettes" that you probably wouldn't want to park in the Wallmart parking lot, this one is a perfect balance to them. I do agree that it needs period correct mags. A 300 air coupe, this may become your favorite.

I've got to admit the paint is growing on me. I polished out a section of the fender and it looked pretty good. There's lots of road rash, a few tears, and lots of crazing and cracking but I'm going to repair then try and blend in some SunFire yellow. I already have a personalized Ca. Black Plate coming---MOD 6T6 My friends think I'm crazy not to repaint. I'm thinking it would be a shame to lose the original paint and graphics. I'm 73 years old and graduated High School in 1969 so I can relive my youth in it! (but much more carefully than I did in the 60's... (- PS-I'm thinking a set of Chrome Crager 5-spokes would set it off....what do you all think of my plans??
