OldCarBum's '73 Restomod Project

I had the "should I paint it yellow" doubts for a long time when I started stripping the faded paint off of my Z28 and found OEM Daytona Yellow underneath.
Once I did it, I never regretted it, for 27 years! It was an awesome 70s color. And just the right vibe for a musclecar.
Wish I had a bigger garage for that one, this one, and a few others LOL!

I finished the last fuel line, then took it all apart to do a little clean up and polished the stainless tubing.
Tomorrow I’ll blow them out with some high pressure air then do the final install.
After that I just need to install the air cleaner and it’s ready to go to the body/paint shop.
The last picture shows why I always take things apart.
I removed the port plug for the fuel pressure gauge and found this wad of sealant tape inside the fitting.
I don’t think the carb would have like it too much.

Had a little time today and I was able to modify the polished bracket I made, picked up the stainless hardware I needed and finished the installation of the fuel lines.
Tomorrow I hope to get all the fittings tightened, the carburetor torqued down, the fuel gauge installed and install the air cleaner assembly.
If I have time.

Thanks guys,
No matter how hard I try, I just can’t force myself to do it any other way.

I’ll be super glad to get it back for two reasons:
One, it will be home on the chassis and I can get it finished and,
Two, It will be out of paint jail and I don’t have to watch every penny I spend to save up to pay the bail.

Everything that I have seen looks fantastic. It will be shame that you have to start the engine and drive it and then watch it get dirty. If only they would stay the way they look as you finish a project.

I installed the fuel pressure gauge, the air cleaner, 3” element, and the clutch Z bar assembly.
I have everything buttoned up and ready to go to the painter.
I just need to install the front frame horn/vacuum tank.
