For the front, the wheels should be taken off to make it easier to reach and turn the bolts. The rear can be done on the ground or ramps.

how far of a drop will this be by not cutting anything and how much by cutting the rear bushings?...do you cut any of the front bushings also when you cut the back?

the forum...

Patches-Excellent illustrations. Are there any issues to be concerned with other than a stiffer ride when doing this. Thanks.

Depends on which suspension you have. The stiffer Z51 and Z06 springs will limit the amount of drop a bit. I got a full inch initially within the first few weeks afterwards with my F45 (base springs) suspension. It has dropped an additional 3/8" in the 3 years since. I experienced no degradation in the ride just from dropping it within the factory-allowed travel.

If you're looking for more of a drop, you can cut 1 or 2 bushing sections up front and get longer 6.5" or 7" bolts for the rear. No need to cut rear bushings - just get longer bolts. Remember that you need to clear speed bumps and other obstacles. Drop it on the stock bolt travel first and try it for awhile before lowering it further. Finally, do forget to get a 4-wheel alignment once you're satisfied with the ride height.

Gotta get it aligned after you do it. Wait about 100 miles and let it "settle" before getting the alignment.

Other Side effects - You spend more hours staring at your car wondering why you waited so long to do it....

Plus you can't run over a soda can in the street any more because you will hit it (he he he)...

I used the pics posted by Patches and they helped a ton. Remember though they are pictures after the work is done.

I am not sure if the weight limit would change - Gee 399 is already a low number - good thing for me my wife weighs 100 lbs otherwise someone would be sitting at home on nice vette days....

Thanks all I lowered it last night and the difference "appears" minimal to me.... Though I measured it and it is an inch lower all around.... perhaps it was too dark for me to see it... or it was so dark that I accidently lowere the wifes Jeep.....

Seriously though I took it around the block afterwords and it it seemed the steering felt a little different.... perhaps quicker/tighter.... is it me?

You'll need to drive it for a week or two and allow the suspension to adjust and settle. It generally takes a good 100-200 miles. Then you can think about getting a 4-wheel alignment at a qualified shop that uses the latest Hunter alignment equipment.

Congrats on the lowering job.
