Alternative to waiting for Allied ?
I was just wondering. When my car comes off the line in about 8-10 days from now, would it be possible to eliminate the $800.00 destination fee and have the car shipped to me directly in an enclosed trailer? I'm sure it would cost more, but I bet I would get my car at least a week sooner.
Anyone know? Or better yet, anyone in So CAl that might want to go in with me and has a car coming soon?
Thanks........

Even if you were allowed to drive it straight off from the end of the assembly line, you would still pay the destination charge. Why not do a courtesy delivery at a nearby dealer??

GM charges $800 destination weather it goes to a dealer in Bowling Green or Alaska. Just be glad that two years ago GM stopped shipping Corvettes to the west on trains.
All Corvettes are trucked to every dealer in the US except Hawaii. The cars are trucked to the port and loaded on a ship.
GM said that the car going by rail had more damage claims than by truck.

The "make ready" process is part of the production and delivery process that cannot be avoided - and I really don't blame them for that. (yes, I know there are people who ask their dealers to not touch the car - but that is between the buyer and the dealer - GM is not going to authorize that).
