Speaker Replacement
Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace the speakers in the doors of the C6. Mine don't sound very well but I don't want Best Buy or somebody else messing with the car if it is difficult. Do you just remove the speaker grills for access or the entire door panel? Any help greatly appreciated.

If they don't sound well, they should stay in bed. If they don't sound good you need to take off the entire panel.

The problem might not be in your speakers. My C6 6 disc system sounded great. An improvement over the Bose system in the C5.
f you system is rattling or buzzing with bass it could be the door panel components. My first C5 in 97 rattled so bad that I called Bose and actually talked to the team members assigned to the Corvette. The speakers were fine but everything on the door panels and other internal components of the doors rattled.
Bose my not be everyone's favorite but for a stock system my C6 sounded great. I had a little buzzing or rattling at one base frequency but it was very frequency dependant.
So first find out if it is the door panels which will rattle at certain bass frequencies.
Of if that is not the problem you may have a bad amplifier. If the sound is distorted at all levels you could have a problem with you amp. I believe the C6 might use the same individual amps as the C5 but do not know for sure.

You must remove the door panels to access the speakers. There is a screw under the door release button (passenger side) and another under the armrest. They use torx head screws. then the panel pulls straight off, the pin clips offer a lot of noisy resistance. The small speaker is attached to the panel and the woofer is attached to the door. There is a nifty connecter for the panel which has a lever release. Very high quality connector.
