Front end scraping
Holy scratched bottoms, Batman, this thing scrapes EVERYTHING! It even scrapes little speed bumps that I normally roll over at 10 MPH. After driving it into some parking lots, I realize this thing scrapes a whole lot more than my C5! It even scrapes on little dips in a normal road... not just parking lots and slight inclines on entrances.
Something I have to get used to I guess.

Have you had occasion to measure the amount of clearance? In an early thread before the first C6 came out, a person who is seldom wrong (no names, please) stated the clearance was 5 inches, which is what I thought the C5 was, but now I've heard it's 3.5 inches.
Would a C6 owner please measure and report the clearance. I have a 4-inch high concrete parking bumper in my carport. Thx.

Yes, that's what I was afraid of. The good news is, Dave Hill says the air dam on the C6 is more durable. However, I think someone in another thread had problems with theirs actually getting knocked off twice already.
Thanks, Crabbyj for taking that measurement.

Sorry. I should have been more specific. I don't think I've even come close to scraping the bumber or anything that really "counts". I'm talking about scraping the rubber air dam. When feeling it, it does feel very pliable and I suspect it'll take a helluva beating before it comes off, but every time you scrape it, it makes it look a little "rougher" when you look underneath the car from a distance. You start to get little torn off pieces of rubber hanging like hairs from the air dam. Not a big problem since you have to be pretty low to see them or actually look underneath the car.
I don't know where you guys are measuring 3.5 inches. The bottom of my air dam is 2.5 inches from the ground. To hit anything important, you've got to go up to the bottom of the front bumper which is 5-6 inches from the ground depending on where you measure it. That looks like the lowest point to me, if you omit the rubber air dam.

My measurements were from the ground to the bottom of the rubber air dam. And yes, Dave Hill at Carlisle made a big deal about it surviving hits with low obstructions. It was designed this way on purpose to reduce air flow under the car. He said C-6 takes 2/3 of air cooling through grill opening and 1/3 from below the dam. Per him, just the opposite of the C-5.

Ain't no other place to get it from.

Looked up clearances of many other cars. None had a clearance even close to 3.5 inches. This becomes even more significant with a passenger or heavy load. Must be VERY careful approaching driveways.

My experience (after 1100 miles) is less scraping than with my C5. Remember the C6 has less overhang to compensate for the lower clearance. This is just my observation to date, and I reserve the right to change my mind after more miles.

the dam consits of three pieces.. the center is factory installed while the two outer are installed from the dealer.. thats one of the reasons they lift the vette...
try approaching a speed bump or similar bump at an angle, thats how i avoid the scraping.
