F/S 1969 435/427 2-top roadster

I purchased this car in April, 1995. It was in overall excellent condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, with two exceptions. In June, 1995, I had the front suspension completely rebuilt, and had the transmission rebuilt with new syncros. I had four new radial tires put on the car at that time, but I still have the four correct Polyglass 70's. They are in excellent condition, and will go with the car, if the buyer wants them. The car has a jack and a spare. The interior is in very good condition. The radio works, the gauges work. The fiber optics and clock do not work. The auxiliary hardtop is in very good condition. The soft top was replaced just before I bought the car, and is in like-new condition. I generally kept it up when the car was stored, but only drove it when the weather allowed the top to be down (otherwise, why drive a convertible). This car is a fantastic driver. The engine is strong and correct. The carburators were completely rebuilt just before I bought it. As you can tell by the numbers listed above, this is a very correct car. The only parts missing, as far as I am aware, are the smog pump and the transistor ignition. I have been told that the TI often failed in later years and was replaced with a standard ignition setup. As with my 1965 coupe which is also for sale, I'm selling this car because I now live on a gravel road, and just don't drive it any more. Not that I have driven it that much. When I purchased it, the odometer was showing 4,726 miles. I assume that it either rolled over once, or was replaced at some point. It now shows 5,247 miles. I really only drove it to the local cruise-ins, a few car shows, and occasionally to the office. I've priced this car to sell fast, and am pretty much firm at that price. If you've been looking for an honest 435/427 that isn't a show car, but isn't priced like one either, this may be the car for you. Why is it that the motor was built and stamped for that car on Nov 18, 1968 but the car didn't come off the assembly line until Mar 1969?

It is well within the 6 month window that NRCS allows so why worry about it? If your a serious buyer take a magnifying glass and go inspect the broach marks thats all I can sujest
did things like that happen at tanawanda you bet they did that motor could have been sent back to the rebuild section and didnt make it back out for some time or the car was ordered and the motor was built early, how many 427/435's were built yeah not to many so without actually going back in time you will never truly know.
so lets get this guys car sold and stop worrying about numbers he posted what he has he is being honest and of course he is asking a very fair price for a BB vert! with minimal work needed to make it 100%

I can understand if the block was cast 4 months before the car was built. That is within the 6 month NCRS time frame. There is no way that the VIN # was put on a block for a car that wasn't going to be built for another 4 months.

The VIN number is stamped onto the block's pad at the car assembly line.
Only the Suffix number is stamped at the engine assembly line, or ?
The Suffix date works fine with the block's casting date.
I would be very interested in this car if there would be the slightest paperwork of proof, like tank sticker or so. But there isn't if I understood Rocketman correctly.
I know I will feel sorry soon not having bought it.

thats right it would be strange, But at the tanowanda plant they dont stamp vin numbers they just stamp the engine codes on it so it says it was built in tonowanda then the engine sufux code and the day it was built thats it.
the vin isnt stamped until it went down the line at saint louis and was picked to go into the car, its nothing for them the motors are shiped they grab it bolt on the trany and stamp them with the vin and away it goes....
