Default Any interest in smaller, sportier steering wheel with airbag?

This topic has come up before. In fact, I started it 2 years ago.

I didn't really get anywhere then, but I just talked to a distributor of RAID steering wheels. These steering wheels are great, small, sporty 3-spoke steering wheels in various sizes and styles that have a fully functional airbag. The airbag meets European safety standards (even more strict than US standards) and is definitely a good OE replacement.

There are many Porsche owners in the US using these steering wheels.

If we can get 50 people together, they will make a hub and adapter for the C5 Corvette. They will need a steering wheel for a couple days.

The wheels range from 335 euro to about 1000 euro, plus about 100 euro for the hub. That includes airbag!

I'm not making any money on this.

The question is: can we get 50 people together?

UPDATE: THEY WILL PRODUCE IT WITH ONLY 35-40, AND KEEP REST IN STOCK

I also think I need to be a forum vendor to do any kind of group buy, so if we think we can, I may foot the bill for that. Although I won't personally be making a dime off this.

Nice looking steering wheel. 335-1000 is a huge range. If my steering wheel started looking bad, I would replace it. It's in perfect shape now though.

One shown above is 435.

For me it's less about the looks, and more about the feel and size!

Interested. I'd like to see if they have any more styles, and a firmer price.

Hmmm... after a quick Google, I'm even more interested...

Find out if it would be compatable with this:

It's a new product from TCI (obvisously a paddle shifter for the A4) but won't work with the stock wheel.

Go to http://carnewal-usa.com/, they have all the styles and prices listed. That's the company we'd be doing the group buy with.

I would need more info than a photo.

Although if most aftermarket wheels will work with it, I'm sure these will too.

I did. Quite a range of prices. Let's see how good the GP is.

Nice looking wheel. Don't forget that the Euro is worth much more than one dollar US. So, the price is going to be high. Whatever, I still like them a lot.

On your first picture, the top of the wheel looks like carbon fiber, is it that?

Keep in mind those are EURO prices...The Euro is running about 1 Euro for 1.64 American Dollars....so a 400. Euro wheel will be 656. dollars...plus overseas shipping...Just a FYI.

I'm pretty sure we won't have to pay overseas shipping. The distributor will be shipping them from the US. I could be wrong.

Still $656 is very cheap for a steering wheel WITH airbag.

OEM steering wheels with airbags are usually around $800-$1000.

I would want one. Always liked the the the three spoke wheel in the new z06. The steering wheel in my c5 z is what I like least about the interior.

Answered my own question; only with wheels sans the AB. Bummer

It should be easy enough. It's just a simple lead.
