I have the wilwoods from corvette engineering on my C3. I do not have the larger rotors though.

VBP also makes a setup for the C3's. http://speedhound.com/brakes.html

There are a number of different companies for you to choose from. Take a look at the different places and see what fits your budget and meets your needs.

I recently installed Wilwood 13 inch front disks with, Wilwood calipers with the optional Thermlock pistons and "J" compound pads. I'm also installing air cooling ducts and I use 600 degree F brake fluid

Not too put a damper on the thread but wasn't there an issue of the rear wheels locking up before the front wheels with the VBP front wheel C5 brake conversion kit? I was looking at it for the future down the road... Is this issue already resolved?

My stock 79 even always locked the rears first. You can balance your system by changing the diameter of your tires and how much traction the tire size gives

Just install some sub 25 inch front tires like 245/50/15's on the front of your car and 275/60/15 on the rear. Your front tires will be blowing smoke

I really strongly recomend Revolution Brake.

I was treated very rudely by StainlessSteelBrakes when I called for information to put in an order. Their loss.

C3 Big Brake Kits.

Here is a pic of mine...

Front brakes.

Rear brakes with parking brake conversion. No more drums.

I got the 6 piston superlights in the front and the 4 piston for the rear.

It seems to me that this is an adjustment issue. ALL REARS tend to lock up before the fronts because of the unweighting of the rear during braking. Isn't there a proportion valve in there somewhere?

Wow - very nice setup VetteThunder1!! I really like where they placed the calipers. Can you get just the parking brake caliper? Is it a cable setup? I didn't see it on their site...

I use a metalic compound up front and stock delco's in the rear. Very balanced braking using same size tires on all corners. Also helps that I have 800 lb springs up front to stop the nose from diving.

with the pad differentials...

I use wilwood SL4's on the front with Poly-E pads and dynalites on the rear with Poly-Q's

I have 26x10" wide rubber on the front and 28x12" wide rubber on the rear with stock sized rotors all around.

All in all a very balanced system... 5 point harness required for braking

It really pays to shop around. Call each place and spec out exactly the same setup. Wilwoods optional ThermLock pistons are a $300 option. The "J" pads are $100 per wheel. Two piece rotors in different diameter have all kinds of prices.

You can not put quality calipers on stock C-3 rotors and expect better performance. Heat just kills them.

Trust me.... Don't go for the VBP C5 brake kit. They advertised the kit would fit with 17" wheels, but as of last fall they didn't have a clue about caliper clearance issues...my 17" TTII's wouldn't mount on the hubs with the C5 kit installed, not even close.

18" C6 wheels will clear. I would not consider this to be a "race setup". I wanted to build my C3 with as many stock Corvette upgrades as possible. Thus the C5 brakes and LS6. If you want race, see the above recommendations...gp
