Air Bag indicator light goes on and off
I'm puzzled. sometimes after the car starts and the airbag does its self check, the light stays on, as if there is a problem. Shut the car off and restart, no light. Anyone else experience this, I'm really trying to save a trip to the dealer.

I see it all the time..
slide the drivers seat all the way forward and fold the back up to the steering wheel..
tilt the seat bottom up
the harness under the seat will be visable.
with the ignition off...
rotate the harness and look for bare wires...
you will see them.
just wrap with elect. tape and reposition harness...
if no signs of bare wires are found check the pass. seat..
most common on the drivers seat...
hope that helps..

Safety Car
Had my dealer fix mine, they asked me if I used the horn lately. I said yes.
They said it had something to do with the horn bracket.
Fixed for 2 months so far no problem.

same problem here too.. I think it may be from the exit mode on the seat driving all the way back to exit, then forward when I get in so I can reach the pedals Took it to dealer, and they supposidly fixed the harness on the pax side. Car had a code B0065 stored, which is the Driver side pretensioner according to the shop maual. Will have a look in the morning to see if there are exposed wires..

It was also happening to me, but hasn't recurred for several weeks now. Also saw a post a few months ago about the driver's seat wiring harness causing the problem. I'm 5'7" and do use the memory exit functon. I guess I should check the harness if it crops up again. Thanks for the instructions.

I just got mine out of the shop yesterday. It was the side air bag wire harness. They ordered a new harness and replaced the old one. It was the drivers side. My dealership was great and kept me up to date on what was going on since they had my car for two days since they didn't have the part in stock. They overnighted it and all is well for now. They even gave me a 07 Suburban with 15 miles on it to take while my car was in the shop. I trust my car with them as well as my dad. He has a 94 and a 00. The 94 was killing on him every once in a while and couldn't duplicate the problem, so we had our service guy take the car home for the weekend and try to duplicate it. Car is fixed now. It helps that he also has a vette and knows how to take care of them and the customer. The dealership is Pat McGrath Chevyland in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I would recomend them if anyone is looking for a good service place for your vette in the area.

Uncanny
A real timely post. I am also 5' 7" and use the memory exit mode and mine has just started to do this. This on an 05. It isn't consistent but will look at my harness tomorrow. Thanks for the update.

Mine did it once and awhile for a few months about a year ago. It hasn't happened since.
Just checked mine and no bare wires were found.

Mine just came on today - thank you all so much for the great information. I have a '66 and of course it has it's little issues but this is my first Vette higher than the C2 - this forum is an awesome resource for the hi-tech Vettes, thanks again.

If you frequently move the power seat fore and aft, then this is the likely place for the problem. If you never move the seat, then its probably something else.

All of this makes sense, I just got the car out of storage after buying it last Nov. Drove it a couple days this week and have been adjusting the seat up / down back and forth to find the right "fit" Sound's to me like I rubbed the harness the wrong way - will take a look tomorrow. Thanks a million for the immediate help - much appreciated!!

I had the same intermittent problem on my 2008 last year! It was really annoying at night when my inside rear view mirror air bag warning light would glow brightly then eventually turn off. Like you guys, did not want a trip to the dealer for this minor issue.

Airbag light problem fixed thanks to you
My wife’s 05 airbag light came on, so she had it diagnosed by a local shop – for free – code DTC B0065 & 66. They said take it to the dealer, which she did, Superior Chevrolet, who had previously (and quite generously imo) fixed her driver seat upholstery. They told her “we’ll work with you” when she asked about a fix. The first I heard about the whole thing was when she called and told me the story and asked if I would pick her up since they said it would take a long time and be about $300. When I went to get her they told me it was “under the dash” and I could not watch them fix it, after I said that I suspected that they may have hurt the seatbelt pretensioner wiring while working on the seat. I was getting a bad vibe and told them I was going to take the car now. They said it would be $93 for a diagnostic charge – when she had already given them the diagnostic sheet from the other shop. I was having none of that and they begrudgingly let me go. I got home and read this thread and found that a wire under the seat had been broken – I could see where the loom cover had been pinched and investigated per the suggestions here. I soldered in a patch and all is well – no airbag light on the dash! I went and drove the **** out of it to pay myself back – what a cool car!
Thanks for the great suggestions – especially UDRIVESLOW- really nice people on this forum! Saved me at least $300!
