Neucleus NC-X2i cost me $600 and a week without my car
The Neucleus NC-X2i just cost me $600 and a week without my car!
As posted earlier my car went nuts last week...doors wouldn't open, car wouldn't start. Roadside brought it in and the dealer determined that it was a bad BCM (body control module)...and they couldn't find a new one for a couple days...add the weekend and the holiday and my car has been there for a week now. Well, they called me today and said they figured out that it was the neucleus...6 hours of service charge later! They replaced the BCM and it had the same problem...finally they disconnected the neucleus and apparently all is well. Now, of course when I dropped the car off they asked if there were any aftermarket changes and I mentioned the "ipod connector" which the tech immediately dismissed as the problem. I'm glad it's nothing more serious but now I'm in for their time ($600) plus the $189 for the neucleus (don't know if I'll have any luck getting that back). On top of that now I lose my ipod and sirius connections!!! Arrgh!
Just thought I would post in case anyone has this problem. Haven't called Logjam (where I purchased the neucleus) or the company that makes it (AI?) yet.

Damn, glad mine didn't work from the date of installation. Cost me one afternoon of time and $100.00 for the installation of the Nucleus and removal.
Guess I was lucky.
I did get a credit from LogJam after 2 months.
I'm getting a new head unit but for now I'm using a Monster FM modulator that is almost static free.

The question is, did the after market electronics really cause the problem or did the service manager just use it as an excuse to stick the bill with the car's owner?
I wonder.

Neucleus has "a brain" of its own, I have one in my car, Ipod works great but the Neuc has relabeled some of the buttons on the nav display........someday it will take over my car, just like in that movie......Christine
Heres my thread about Neuc. from audio section

My Nucleus has killed my battery twice and I don't even use the iPod hook-up, just the Aux in manual mode! - pulled it out while I wait for the next SW release. One more strike and its going back.
