Default Stop The Rocks DIY (pics)

This DYI is designed to stop the dirt and rocks that lodge in the rear fender seam just in front of the rear tire. They are on your car, just go out and look. My main concern is that when detailing or washing the car, one drops into the cloth or wash mitt and I end up dragging a stone across my paint. It appears the problem is due to a large gap in the inner fender liner which allows debris off the tire to enter the inner fender. This is how I fixed it for $5.

I pointed it out to the plant manager when I was at Carlisle, that even a new Z06 with 400 miles had all rocks in the seam. He did not seam to care, and that Z06 was driven by Dave Hill

Press the sticky side in first towards the fender

good mod! I always noticed that when I am washing the car, I spray that spacing and all sort of gunk and rocks come out of that spacing in the body side.

Default Is it the left rear only?

Pipedreams thanks for the procedure!

I went out and looked at my Vert that has only been driven home from the dealership (only 32 miles on the car) and sure enough it had small rocks lodged in between the panels .

It appears this defect is only on the rear driver's side....Is this true? Also, your first picture indicates the gap is towards the front of the car but your procedure looks like you're working on the rear side, could you elaborate?

Thanks,
John

I wouldn't care either. It's a $50 000 car that hits 60 mph in 4.1s. I don't expect the engineers to keep the dirt off of it. All cars get dirty.
