Default Texas Driver Magazine (Jan/Feb Issue) - Corvette Z06 Cover Story by a New Owner

...who also happens to be me...

Sorry guys and girls, I must admit I've been holding out on you a little bit when it comes to giving you my full impressions of the new Z06 here on the forums. I've been writing an article for a major automotive publication and as such I had to limit what I said on the internet about the car. Well, the time has come when I can let the cat out of the bag.

...Print media is a lot like music - if I don't post it here, somebody will scan it and post it. And, as with the discriminating audiophile, I think the discriminating reader will go out and buy the magazine once he or she sees a quality article online. So, in the interest of not being another Metallica... I talked the magazine into letting me post the full article here for your reading pleasure.. if you like the article, go out and buy the magazine and consider getting a subscription. Look for my test drive / review of the new Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe in the
upcoming March/April issue.

And now, without further ado.. here's the article! It should be appearing on newsstands any day now.

Enjoy!
Andi

As a side note for the holiday season.. (I wish I had known this was coming before I myself paid for a subscription three weeks ago)...

Subscribe for one year before 12/31/05 using the following coupon code: TDMZ06 for a 50% discount. That's just $10 for a whole year (6 issues), versus $4.99 per issue. Simply go to www.TexasDriverMagazine.com and subscribe for one year in the web store... then, on checkout, type TDMZ06 in the coupon referral code box.

Note: Even though new maganize subscriptions usually have 1-2 month lag times, I talked to the honchos at the magazine and, *if you use the coupon code above*, YOU WILL GET THE JANUARY/FEBRUARY ISSUE WITH MY Z06 ARTICLE AS PART OF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION.

IMHO, it's a no-brainer...

Well done Andi! That is a fantastic article you wrote.

Texas Driver Magazine will probably be quite pleased for recruiting you...I know I couldn't pass up that great subscription offer.

Default Question

Andi, I couldn't help but notice the Daytona Coupe photo at the bottom of the cover on the Magazine you posted. Was this an original or replica?

I don't know....?

I still haven't received my magazine, I've only seen the cover and my own article. Magazines start arriving in the next 1-2 weeks.

Sorry.....

Oh, I just signed up for the magazine. $10 bucks for six issues of a VERY high quality car magazine is worth it to me. Not to mention, it helps support Andi and his new endeavors.

Andi,
Picked up a VR Z at the museum on Friday, and I think you nailed the car in your article. Probably the best article on the car I've read. From a driving perspective the car is beyond what anyone could ask for. If there is anything out of keeping with the extent they went to make this car a truly world class vehicle it is the "commodore 64" resolution on the NAV screen. Keep writing; you have a flair for it!

Andi, I lived in Houston and loved Texas. You have one more neat license plate. I really like the 427 Z and the Texas Star!

Thanx a lot for that effort on behalf of the international community of corvetteforum.com, who cannot get the magazine at the next newsstand ...

I enjoyed reading your article very much ... I like the passion and emotion in it ... your enthusiasm and excitment for the "Supervette" is contagious.

This car feels … German.

I feel that is kind of a compliment for Porsche & Company ... but despite I´m German, I do hope GM won´t make the Vette too german in the future

Fact is, the C6 and C6 Z06 get a lot of attention and respect on this side of the Atlantic. Recently there has been a test in a leading german (!) car-magazine "SportAuto" which in the end saw the C6 Conv. 2 points ahead of a 911 S Conv. (!!!)

At present, I drive a british Jaguar (with american automotive-genes by F**d), but I plan to trade it soon and get a Corvette in 2006. Both of them might be less perfect than say a Porsche or a BM-Dub ... but they sure are more adorable ...

Over here you see a Porsche almost on every corner, but you hardly will see a Corvette. I like great value and performance for money, traditon and passion ... and all that in a very individual ride
