C6 Z51 Brake Squeal/groan Fix!
This is a new bulletin just released for this problem. GM has plenty of the rear pads in stock, but very limited supply of the front pads inbound from the mfg. GM Parts was not aware of this bulletin and I passed it on to a supervisor and advised them they better get a bunch of fronts on hand asap. If you are having this problem notify your dealer and give them this bulletin # so they can order you new brakes. Remember this is not a recall, but just the information for a dealer to do a repair under factory warranty.

Thanks for the information. I got mine done a week and half a go. It sure is nice to stop at a light and not have everyone looking at you because your brakes are noisey. Your info should be helpful to a lot of people with Z51.

My Z51 just turned over 3,000 mi. and has not squeeked once ever. Serial #20796. Is it possible that a running change was made on the brake pads to the new parts and if so is there any info on which serial #s the change applies to?

Awesome
Great information. I had this squeal starting around 3500 miles, and now I have 8k miles (squeal still there). I guess it was a minor annoyance, but hey, if they're going to do a service bulletin under warranty....so I gave my dealer a call. They said they'll have the brake pads ordered. By the way, I also came in for the Service Fuel System light fix about two months ago. That was a two day job. Let's hope brake pads won't take that long.

My 2005 Z51 has just over 1000 miles and the brake pads seem to be dragging. This only happens when I first start to back in to the garage. Anyone experience this?

Brake Groan or Squeal on Z51's
Okay Boys and Girls, here is the scoop..yes this bulletin does address the squeal problem we so often hear, but even though you replace the exsiting pads with the replacements recommended, beware, when they wet or high humidity, more than likely they will squeal and groan again. Also, braking performance is also comprimised, how much?????? These particular replacement pads or not true ceramics, which if they were 100% ceramic, there go your pads and rotors. Your brake dust will be less also using these replacement pads. No more than I drive my C6, I can live with a little less brake dust, less squealing and a little less performance, all three of these were really bugging me. Dirve the car ten miles and the darn wheels have to be washed off, go over 50 mph and you sound like a tanker truck pulling into a parking lot.
