Monterey Red vs Magnetic Red vs 50th Annv. Red
OK, here's the newest comparison. It's a new Monterey Red vert sandwiched in between a 2003 Annv Red vert and a 2002 Mag Red vert.
As you can see, the Monterey is very close to the Annv Red. Just a shade lighter. The picture below shows you just those 2 so you can see how close they really are!
Enjoy the pictures and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, Dave. I've been hoping for a thread like this.
Can you do a shot of Mon Red next to Mag Red? In direct sunlight like the bottom pic if possible, please. Would be much appreciated.
Mon Red looks great in full sunlight.

Hmm. Monterey Red does look the best of those to me.
But given my slight red/green color blindness, I wonder what they look like to people with normal vision. None of these reds look great to me.

I have a Mag Red C6 coupe. I love the color so much I didn't mind paying $750 extra for it. But . . . at this year's Cruise-in at the Corvette Museum, Dave Hill was there with a fender painted Monterey Red on display. I wish I had waited and got Monterey Red. It is darker and richer looking than Mag Red and Dave said the metallic in it would stand out better in lower light conditions than Mag Red. The pictures in this post are good but don't do it justice and you have to see it in person in sunlight to really see how great it looks.

I didn't want any other color C6 except the Black/ Ebony I got in Oct.
After seeing Monterey Red in person I have been kicking myself, it is so F'ing beautiful I can't believe it.
Oh well you can't always anticipate the future.
Don't tell my car I wrote this.

That's the Mag Red I in your picture. There is a differnce in color than the the C6 Mag Red II. This past week I was able to get with a friend that had Mag Red I and we compared the two colors and side by side it is easy to see the color differences especially in the sunlight.

what happens in the shade?
Dave,
I've seen a few pictures of the Monterey red, and on my screen, it looks cranberry. Do you see much purple in it? Also, some new paints look completely different in varying light. Some lighting makes them look spectacular, then under clouds or at dusk they look muddy. I wonder what that car looks like when it's overcast. Oh, one more questioin, how much metal flake is in the paint? Does it really sparkle? Guess i've got to see one in person soon, huh?
