I recall one or two others with that particular problem. I was able to locate this previous post that might fit.

There seems to be more than a couple. Here's another post

May be a sub-club of owners, just like the Crank Pulley.

I have the leak in the middle, around the diff. Needs to go back to the shop. The first time the dealer just put in a dye and told me to come back if it keeps leaking. Still leaks and will be taking it back next week. Seems like it always takes at least two trips to fix something.

last week, under warranty, my local dealer replace what he called the "tansaxle seal"......
he said that this was apparantely a common problem....
(funny thing was.....it took them less time to replace the seal than
it took them to replace my front left blinker blub......lol)

yeah mine too..
I think they may be draining a factory overfill and billing gm for the
seal replacement warrantee...not my problem tho..it's fixed just fine.

Thanks forum for the feed back re: leak.
This forum also allows it's fair share of cynics with shallow egos and are know it allls.
Most of us use direct quotes and are often given poor or incorrect information and unknowingly pass it on. It's a forum!
I can give you the name of the service tech and you can ask him why you know more than he does. "It's an axle seal leak " quoted the tech.
I am just the mailman.

Rear Axle Seal and Transmission to Differential Leak (Z51)
My vehicle exhibited leaks on the rear axle seal and transmission to differential seals at 700 miles. The following parts were replaced by the dealership:
12369456
89059670
89059457
12455044
12455045
88996703
The car was in the shop for a total of 6 days for this repair. The first visit was for 3 days at which point they told me to pick-up the vehicle because they did not have all the parts in stock. The second visit they replaced the parts and steam cleaned the underside of the car to clean away the fluid leaks. Total miles put on the car during the first visit was 10. Total miles put on the car during the second visit was 36 (6 of which were documented as a road test). They chalk up the additional miles to running the vehicle on the lift to check for leaks. This was from the same dealership that would not let me test drive a new vehicle.
The car was built at the end of June 2005. Other issues:
1. Brake squeal
2. Missing cargo net and luggage net from the factory (still waiting for these parts)
3. Interior rattle (inside dash near glove box?).
4. AC compressor would not turn on, happened twice.
I am very pleased with the performance of the vehicle but wish I would not have these issues straight from the factory.

#3: Read the other day where someone had this rattle and they found a rivet either loose or missing at glove box. think they even said the plant knows about it now. Might do a search to find the article posting. Might be a fix to your rattle.

I had my seal between transmission and differential replaced. Dealer advised that GM redesigned the seals and that there was a TB out on it. Seems there have been a few leaking.

I just got mine back..I had the car only six days...found the trans..axle seal leaking...I believe it wasn't inspected at the delivery dealer as my car had just 300 miles upon discovery..wouldn't have discovered the leak until much later if I hadn't been interested in modifying the exhaust system...my advice is ..if you can..put your new car up on a rack and inspect it yourself ...can save time and money later on...
