Transparent Roof ?
Can you install GM's Transparent roof on a Z with a fixed install and maintain the structural integrity of the vehicle ?

If you do some searching, you can find some very in depth discussions on this topic.
The easiest way is to send in your fixed roof and a donor transparent roof and have your painted panel replaced with the transparent panel and then bolt it back in. It will not be removable, but will be transparent.
Carvaggio Corvettes Inc modifies Z06's with the coupe removable roof. It is very expensive (over $12k) and involves chassis stiffeners.
A shop in Bowling Green KY has also done it. A CF member did a very extensive write up on this. They also did some chassis stiffening.
A few other shops have managed to do the conversion without doing anything to the chassis and they are surviving just fine. If you look at some of the numbers, the C6Z frame is several times stiffer than the C4 or C5 which both have removable tops. Some say GM just did not go to the expense doing the required federal crash testing for the Z with a removable roof. Also, GM engineers went to a huge effort to reduce weight in the C6Z. They left out the power passenger seat, the hatch auto close mechanism and removable roof to save weight.
Review all the material and judge for yourself.

12k to see thru your roof.... hmm that seems a bit too much!! you can buy a beat up c5 with that see thru roof for that price and call it a day!! LOL I just dont see the point of butchering a Z!!
