Default 300,000 Miles and Counting

1999 C-5, Purchased Oct. 1998

I'm the original owner. Still driving it as my daily driver and enjoying every moment so much, that I bought the '07 Z51 too. There have been failures over the years as nothing lasts forever of course. The largest or most expensive issue was somehow, I got a Borg Warner transmission when I should have received a Tremec. After the 3rd major teardown, I elected to replace it with a Tremec. Other than that, there have been lots of small things here and there, but as long as they are kept up on, the car is reliable to run. As I've said many times here in the forum, Take Care of it, It will take care of you.

Gee, you make my 109,000 mile 1998 seem a low mileage car !

Great going, these cars were meant to be driven, and you have certainly done that.

Wow...although C5's and F-bodies were built by BW here in the USA until Tremec bought them and moved it to Mexico. It was a mid model year change and a running change I believe which means one day they started using Tremec's units instead of BW's units.

I find that surprising because BW units were bullet proof but there were a lot of growing pains with the Tremec T56.

Have you contacted Chevy over this?

Yeah, tried that at the first tranny failure..they ignored me. No leaks except when I lost the water pump several years ago.. no leaks since.

Its a 6-Speed. I meant to post it in General but messed up...maybe the moderators will move it for me rather than posting twice.

That is awesome to know that someone actually has driven thier vette 300,000 miles. I hope mine lasts that many miles also. Congrats to you and hope you get another 300,000 miles out of it.

One question, have you had to do anything to the motor in all of those miles?
