Default Blowing Gauges Fuse

My 84 keeps blowing the fuse labeled gauges. My FSM is the new style with no electrical diagrams....I know the fuse goes to the O/D relay and I have unplugged it with no improvement.,...still blows....any ideas???

You have a lot of looking to do because the gages fuse powers a lot of stuff. Here is the list:
Heater ac control head.
LH and RH vanity mirror light.
Defogger control.
Vapor canister.
Courtesy light timer.
Overdrive relay.
Air select switching valve.
Header map light.
Low coolant module.
Cruise control brake switch.
Audio alarm module.
Tell tale assembly.
Air divert valve.
EGR valve.
Antilock control module.

This is from my 87 factory electrical service manual so some circuits may not be in an 84. I recommend finding out if there is a GM electrical diagnosis service manual supplement and if so, buy one.

This is the kind of thing you'd get from the 1984 Corvette Electrical Troubleshooting Shop Manual Supplement ST-364-84-ETM:

The colored wiring diagrams of these shop manuals are worth the entire cost of the book alone. Compared to other make factory books, these are by far the easiest and clearest diagrams.

Have a close look at the wires going into OD relay connector. The insulation may have shrunk back enough to allow a short. Unplugging the relay won't cure that.

Default Blowing Gauges fuse

Thanks for the great illustration....I should have mentioned that the fuse only blows intermittently. I did check the wiring to the OD relay and the insulator had shrunk but I taped the wires before I disconected it. Where is the best place to get the above referenced manual?? I checked Ecklers and mid America and they don't show it.....

Mid America number 600-101. This includes both the Shop Manual and the Electrical Supplement for $109.99. I suspect this reprint won't have the nice color schematics though.
You've got email switched off or I'd send it to you in PDF. 27MB in size though.
