Skia - Henry Hunt
I saw on FB recently that people had wished Henry a happy Heavenly Birthday..... I was shocked to see this.
RIP Skia
His Obituary:
MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Carl Henry Hunt, Jr., 65, of Yadkinville Road, died Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
He was born on May 2, 1958, in Catawba County, to Carl Henry Hunt, Sr. of Mocksville and the late Ellen Fulbright Hunt.
Carl “Henry” Hunt Jr. was best described as someone who loved people and had eclectic tastes and interests. He began his professional career in his family’s apparel business. He later went into sales and most recently worked in car service. Henry loved planes of all kinds and worked to earn his pilot’s license, flying a single-engine plane which he co-owned for some time. He raced go carts, was involved in road racing sports cars, and worked on a NASCAR pit crew. He enjoyed Corvettes and owned several different models through the years. He was involved in the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS), judged at local car shows, and was a member of a local car club, Classic Glass. Henry loved learning about science and history; his favorite topic was World War II. He had a broad range of musical likes including classic rock, rhythm and blues, and classical music. From an early age he played the drums and went on to play through high school, participating in marching and concert band. He enjoyed reading all genres of literature but loved science fiction most. Henry was at home on the water and enjoyed boating and water sports. Spending time at the lake with his family and friends was his favorite place to be. His favorite sports included football and ice hockey. Through all his varied hobbies and interests, Henry made life-long friends, and all were considered extensions of his family. He was a lover of dogs, especially his Golden Retrievers and Great Danes. In addition to his many beloved pets, his friends and family were his steadfast source of joy and happiness throughout his life.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his great uncle and great aunt, Frank and Marguerite “Rete” Fox.
In addition to his father, survivors include his wife of 47 years, Martha Brewer Hunt; two daughters, Haley Waypa (Brian) of Belmont and Maddie Shelton (Haynes) of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Corinne Waypa and Xander Waypa; two sisters, Anita Hendrix (Craig) of Mocksville and Myra Bumgarner (Barry) of Conover; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and a multitude of friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Darren Crotts officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for WDAV at https://www.wdav.org/contribute, or to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
