The locking steering wheel difficulties were on the 2005 model year. However, I have 2 Corvette friends that have 2005's with absolutely no problem at all. I own a 2007 narrow body, and it's been a great car. Oh, by the way I bought it wrecked and rebuilt it myself. I KNOW everything about this car to say the least. It has an LS7 that's S/C'd, with a 6 speed (my preference) and it's a beast to say the least. Saying that to say this, I have a friend who had a 2013 GS that was a lemon. All kinds of problems, he even bought it with only 13,000 miles, on the clock, and you name it....it happened with that car. My only thought is that it was probably built on a Friday afternoon......you see where I am going. So, is the 2013 the best of the C6's? Yes, no, maybe so. If I had the cash at the time I would have purchased a "newer" C6, however, retirement limited my ability to do so. I love my car, and I won't sell it. Find what you like and can afford (personally, I refuse to have car payments!!! If I can't pay cash for a car, I won't buy it!!!), and just go for it. The Forum is here to help! This forum helped me save thousands during the rebuild of my car. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.
Ironically, my 2007 Euro Spec had the steering lock issues (as did other's in Europe.)
They were also excluded from the factory recall (Wow - thanks GM!), but thankfully a fix (without the expense of a new imported steering column!) was eventually found.
I too refuse to take credit on anything these days, and I buy only what I can afford, but I have good money saved for a Fall purchase of a specific well loved GS.
Excited to start the hunt in 5-6 months when my next tour ends.

I have a 2013 GS coupe ( 6-speed manual, 3LT trim ) that I bought brand new . . . . has been perfect so far except for the solenoid that controls the NPP exhaust valves, which, if I remember, was under $50 to replace. Of course I have also changed the tires, battery and fluids.
Additionally it has depreciated less than any of the 40 vehicles I have previously owned. So I'd say 2013's are just fine.
Also, I think I recall there were less 2013's made because they shut the plant down mid-year to tool up for the new C7's in 2014. Then those early C7's had some problems, including transmission and paint issues.
Good luck.

I do remember that the 2013 convertible 427 on the hood, was going to be some sort of collector car. And that the rush was on to get the last C6 convertible 427! To keep!
14th
But many here reported selling and getting a C7 during the C7 production years. So much for keeping a supposed collector car...
I saw a 2013 427 on here with plenty of miles on it FS for $59K the other day. For that money I've been 7-years, in a very nice brand new 2017 Stingray convertible, 3L Z51 features, MSRC, M7 with zero miles on it. With ALL the C7 new interior - nuances AND power.

After years of casual internet shopping, I focused on a 2012/2013 to get "The Best Of The Best" which eventually came down to.... which was more appealing, a 2013 60th Corvette, or a 2012 100th Chevy. Actually either one would do. I was always partial to a wide body Grand Sport convertible with the LS3 engine for its reliability. Manual or automatic, either transmission would do. My wife and I were very particular about colors. I was picky about it being fully optioned. The heritage package stripes & multi-colored seats, and the ZR1 rear spoiler options didn't fancy my wife or myself as much as one without . I/we ended up with a 2013 Automatic, fully optioned minus those non-fancies, and only 12,570 miles. We had found the "Perfect One" and paid a handsome $45,000 a few months ago to get it. Here is the window sticker.
So here is one more who owns a 2013 and is very blessed to have it.

Fully expecting a circa $38-$45k price tag, so hoping to get a very nice fully optioned low mileage Z16.

Absolute BS. The linked article claims the transmission is the worst part in one paragraph but later says:
"The worst problem in the C6 Corvette is in the fuel system. This issue appeared time and time again but was most prominent in the 2008 C6 Corvette. This trouble might seem like a tiny fault, but C6 Corvette parts are tricky to come by. It can cost a lot of money."
Now maybe they are talking about fuel tank leaks, hard to know, but that being a plastic part failure, newer has to be better. So a 13 should be best. Plus I'm certain there virtually no changes between 12 and 13 beyond color/stripe packages.
Like others have said, appears to be an AI generated article. The problem with AI is that it's not intelligent at all. It just takes what you feed it and parrots it back. So garbage in garbage out. And they train AI systems from the internet which is at least 50% wrong.

Thought you might enjoy this story. My 2013 also came from MacMulkin . . . . and I flew to NH to get mine in person, and then drove it home to Maryland. They had bought most of the last 200 or so C6's (all 2013's) and kept them all in their indoor 4-story showroom until they were all sold. So when I arrived there were still over 80 C6's for sale there . . . . every model, color and option available. It was quite a sight . . . . so I took a few pics on my flip-phone !
Enjoy the new ride.

I may be the worst to ask about this, or I may be the best. The worst because, owning a 2013, I may not be objective. The best, because owning a 2013, I am truly experiencing it. So far, purchasing mine in 8/23, I have had zero issues with it (a big knock on wood here). Like others have stated, I question the validity of that article. I have seen several automotive articles recently with erroneous ‘facts’. It is at once both shocking and disgusting. So, I would suggest that without documentation to support their statement about 2013s being problematic, that statement should be disregarded.
I included your quote here because it aroused my curiosity. If this is asking for TMI, please forgive me and disregard. When you say tour, I wonder if you are in a band or working with one?
Best of luck in your quest!

Great to hear you are enjoying yours and it seems many called it here, a fake AI report.
I do indeed work in music. 😎👍
I have my own Music Tour Services company and currently I am running the tour management and show bookings exclusively for one artist that has me under contract.
The only negative, long stretches away from my Corvettes. 😞

ok. so lets rip the 05 C6 because it is the new kid on the block, I get it as I have one and it has let me down once with the PO601 code, ECU went bad,,,, grand total with part plus reprogramming,, labor one thousand dollars, If this scares you away then run and run far because the tires on this car will cost 1500 dollars, But if you are not a complete ***** fix it!! Everycar needs some love and a Corvette is one of those but if you show some skills on basic skills on how to work on car it will provide you the car you can own and be proud off for many years to come, 11 years for me so far and when the next problem rears its ugly head I will kick the crap out of it and drive into the sunset once again. If you want a prius you are barking up the wrong tree. We burn fossle fuel on this Forum, Thanks for my rant, !0 year owner and looking for the next 10 years, I drive it everywhere,,, Indy, Road America, all the local car shows

My 13 has 145k hard driving abuse filled miles of joy, all on or near the rev limiter. The most major problem I've ever had was a lifter failure and I'm pretty sure that was self induced. Cheers to another 145k.

We are already to the point where most text articles that are generic in nature "10 best whatever's" are ai generated crap. Basic videos as well. But we are on the precipice of there being entire ai generated YouTube channels, with ai generated scripts and videos, and so generated hosts, and almost nobody will be able to tell it isn't real. We will soon (if we don't already) have AI generated music, with entire bands and albums and music videos generated completely by AI. The only thing they won't be able to do isn"play live", but there are already things like the KISS show that are video/holograms, people will accept it without issue

Article itself sites:
"According to carcomplaints.com, here are the best years for the C6 Corvette:
2008 C6 Corvette.
2010 C6 Corvette.
2011 C6 Corvette.
2012 C6 Corvette"
I'm guessing this was an AI-generated article based on reviews on that website. Or a very low-effort article written for ad revenue.
