Get a Free factory build sheet
I have seen quite a few inquiries of people looking for build sheets. I did this recently so I know it works. Send your VIN number and name requesting your build sheet to socialmedia@gm.com. They will email you a .pdf in a day or two.

I got one last year but its nothing like the original factory one that was attached to the car while being built. Just a heads up in case anyone is expecting it to look like the factory one.

Not sure how far back they go.
I recognize that burgessdg had asked and they told him 1981, which would make sense with the move to BG in '81. However I tried this yesterday on our 1999, and had a fairly prompt reply that said, "Unfortunately, due to the age of your Chevy, we do not have access to its information in our system. However, we do recommend that you try reaching out to the GM Heritage Center, as they would be in the best position to assist with your inquiry. To do so, simply send an email to vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com which details the information you’re seeking." So, perhaps they go back to 1981 for specific vehicles (anniversary editions, etc), but not for all.
I have sent a request to the new email address they provided and will advise of the outcome.

Melting Slicks
Not free. Vehicle Invoice / "Shipper Document" is available from GM Archives for 1977 and forward Corvette. Reference link below.
"Shipper" has similar information to tank sheet - VIN, Dealer, Options, Build Date, etc. Years ago was gratis, now $50.
