MY2024 "PLAY" text message
Hello to all. On MY2024, I receive a text message and "Play" button is shown on infotainment screen. I press the button and get a message that it can't play the message.
Is there a setting or a way of listening to a text message while driving? Android Smart phone.
Have a great day!

I believe I only saw a message once, that I must have a paid subscription to hear my messages.

Thanks VnamVet...
If I can speak freely.... the bastards and subscriptions.
This should be considered a safety feature.
Anyone with a 2020-2023... Can you listen to text messages while you drive?

It’s ridiculous and people should complain every time they encounter one of these demands for more money….

Use android auto rather than the built in Google System and it will read your text messages and allow you to respond via voice. You will also stop seeing the prompts to purchase a data plan.

I have MY2024 and my text message play as expected, no subscription and no annoying prompts suggesting I should. However I have an iphone and it’s connected via carplay. Siri doing the reading to me.

If you want the Google Assistant to read your messages aloud, you must be connected to a network. I use feature this when I don't connect to AA or CP. I just use my hotspot. I like the response option better than voice responds from AA and CP.

Before
I like the latest tech and I want it to work, without subscriptions.
I could drive an old Plymouth Valiant. A very good, reliable, transportation car. I struggled to pay $90k for a Corvette.
Have a great week every. ( frigging allergies are kicked into high gear, SOB)

The New World Order is subscription based services. The things we took for granted are being taken away. Just need to deal with it.
While you can, figure out how to use Apple Car Play or Android Auto. Note: This is not Android Automotive if you are using an Android phone. Both are still available without a subscription. And they do everything you need to do. Our Sunday cruise drive always using Car Play, we shuffle played tunes from my wife's iPhone. We could have accessed Apple Maps. My wife answered a phone call from her daughter and we talked hands free. And we read two grandkids' texts.
One of the reasons we are committed Apple users, the integration of all these things are seamless for us. We get in, the phone connects to Car Play automatically. Tunes start playing. Our phone still in my wife's purse. If we want to split screen a map, we can have the tunes info on one half the maps on the other. Or full screen toggle either. The phone has 32G of memory so our 2000 song library barely makes a dent. And we are too old to remember what played last week so everyday is a new day. Forget all the other jazz, Occam's Razor rocks our world.

Yes. If car play is connected it is automatic. If not just ask Siri. Obviously, iPhone.
