Default Belt Tensioner - Leaking

I had my 2018 C7 GS in for an oil change and the service technician reported that its belt tensioner is leaking.

Here is the photo they provided:

How soon do I need to adress this? I have an extended warrantee

Car has just over 14k. Thoughts/advice.

If you have a warranty why not address it now before it gets worse? It only takes an hour to replace one.

Other than making a mess, loss of fluid often results in a rattle. Contrary to popular belief, the fluid is not under pressure. It's just there to dampen spring harmonics and keep it cool.

The new design has a different seal on top.

Is it critical? No. Nonetheless, I'd go ahead and have the warranty take care of it. Why wait?

They wanted to keep my car for a week as they said that the Chevy Protection Plan I have will likely require them to keep the car for that long. I was told that they would need to submit the claim, wait for an inspector to authorize, and the car can't leave their shop during this process. I didn't feel real comfortable leaving it with them for that long. Wanted to get a better idea on the issue as it wasn't expected. Thanks for the responses.

Take it to a different shop. A week is BS.

BS.

Warranty work, the shop was just waiting for a slow period of time just to keep the techs working.

No work = no pay. (flat rate, and warranty pays less).

I had my belt tensioner replaced late last year and the car was in and out of the shop in one day - they even had the part in stock and my extended warranty fully covered it. No reason at all to keep the car at the dealer for a week.
