No one not even Admins can read others PMs. The scammers are messaging people who post. Be sure and VERIFY the person who messages you is the ORIGINAL ACCOUNT who posted the ad.
Don’t share your phone number or email in a post. Save it for PMs after verifying who sent the message.
Something doesn’t seem right, pass on the “deal”. Notify a Mod or Admin.

I understand why you deleted the scammers post but honestly it could be used to educate everyone on what to look out for.
I wouldn’t want anyone else to be scammed out of their hard earned money.

I feel like there should be a report button in PMs... I had one of these scammers message me from a thread I commented in about injectors earlier this week. The system sent me the standard this message could be a scam message but it didnt give me anyway to alert the moderators of the person sending the PM.

The software allows for reporting of suspicious PMs. Just hit the button that is a triangle outlined in red. It's on every post and every PM. We have a number of measures in place to spot potential scammers, but one of our most important tools is getting alerts from suspicious community members who report PMs they have gotten. When we ban a scammer, the software auto-generates a warning to everybody who got a PM from the scammer. It also deletes all of their PMs.

The logic for the process is that we don't want to take a chance that someone will respond to a PM from a scammer before they see the scammer alert warning. That means you can't report the deleted PM, but at that point a report isn't necessary because we've already banned the scammer.

hmm, I didnt see it but let me double check. I'll be sure to look out for it if it happens again. I'd say for the most part if you use your own due diligence this place is still safe to buy and sell. You guys do a great job for the most part. (my only real complaint is to make it to where related thread wasnt the default setting lol )

Most of what had been edited here was inflammatory content.
A typical scammer usually posts I have xxxxx part in another sellers post or someone posting a want to buy add. Or sends a PM to someone who posts interested:pm sent claiming to be the seller. Again, always verify when responding to a message that you are responding to the original poster ! Hope this helps!

this is why my PayPal account is backed by my Discover card. Something goes awry, I just have to contact Discover to cancel the transaction and PayPal and the credit card company can duke it out between each other. PayPal may not want to help me, but they can’t ignore my credit card company.

I wish to second the above 10 TIMES OVER! Yes, if you are in the Myrtle Beach area and want to talk Corvette upgrades, contact 'iridelow' without hesitation! He has sent the mats to me at no cost, and I said he definitely did NOT have to do that, as it was truly not his fault in any way. I caused the problem, but hopefully made it PERFECTLY CLEAR he had nothing at all to do with the 'scam' I was subjected to. So, our friend is a true standup guy in every way!!

That is not even always risk free as I did that and ya’ll banned me instead of the scammer.
I needed to jump through hoops to create another acct and login through a non black listed IP and Different email address.
I would LOVE for an admin to unblock my email and public IP at the very least so I can actually use a computer to enjoy this site instead of cell phone.
I know we have discussed this before, but if you can pull a string to make that happen, I would greatly appreciate it!
