Melting Slicks
In the process of installing new carpet and while I was at it installed Kilmat throughout the interior including the cargo, partition, floors and sills. Carpet kit came with jute which I used also but not below footwell area of carpet. Replaced the heater core while the dash was out. Much easier to do while the dash is out, plus the heater core had a leak. Glad I checked it at this stage.

Drifting
I swear one day I'll finally install my sound deadner. Too many projects and not enough time off.
Vacuumed it out to get all the spring pollen off the black carpet. Looked much better without a light yellow coating all over the fibers. Maybe I should install the hatch vent and let it blow itself out on the interstate next time.

Burning Brakes
Only got the 84 out twice last year, mainly because the storage units door spring broke and the owner took his time repairing it. Supposed to be a decent day, why not get it out and take it for a spin. Not exactly acting right but made the 3 mile trip home, figured it was just from lack of use. Go to put it away and it spits/sputters and dies. Apparently the fuel pump that was replaced by the previous owner (thought it was 7 yrs but turned out to be 10) died. Towed home and after a quick trip to Autozone began the process. 2 1/2 hours up and running....and back into the storage unit.
Of course this was the topper after I had gotten my mothers 01 Mustang GT out of storage, drove it not even 1/4 mile and it died. Yep...fuel pump....

Replaced the Thermac vacuum actuator on the right-hand intake door of my '84. Took her for a spin to make sure everything works nicely, and she ran just as good as the day she was built (wait... this car is forty years old???)

Racer
Just started filling the gas tank with E-0 ethanol-free 90 octane.
SOTP runs the same or better compared to top-tier E-10% premium 93 gas but no annoying pops from exhaust especially when cold between shifts so that makes it worth it to me. (stock manifolds, catless dual straights with H-pipe into Corsas)
Plus a little better gas milage, noticeable 25 miles further on a tank, so break even for the additional price per gallon.
Injectors were replaced long ago so no real reason to switch, but this E-0 somehow seems better.

I crawled under the dash to bypass the clutch safety switch to see if it is the culprit for leaving me stranded yesterday.
if it’s not that it’s the vats crap…

Wax/polish with Griots
Washe/dried her then put the polish down. The Griots machine does good work. Especially in inexperienced hands like mine. Not the best pictures it came out nice. Used Maguires leather treatment wipes the other day also. Good stuff.

Not today, but yesterday: I changed out the upstream O2 sensors on my 96. I was having rough idle and running and some smoking and OBD2 told me it was O2 sensor 1, bank 1. (I love having the OBD2). It went pretty good, driver's side was easy to get to, passenger side was trickier but doable. Car ran great after.
