Recall C8 GM trannies late 2023-2024
New Service Bulletin Issued for 2023-2024 Corvette Transmissions Over Improperly Torqued Fasteners
Apparently, an unknown number of affected Corvettes in those two years have transmission fasteners that were improperly torqued. To solve the problem, the company released Customer Satisfaction Bulletin #N232427051 that authorizes dealers to replace the transmission “at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, through May 31, 2026.”The Bulletin says certified GM technicians will inspected affected cars and replace the transmission and all corresponding components, including a coolant flush, as necessary. The work is expected to take between 15.4 and 18.5 hours to complete.
While the C8’s dual-clutch transmission offers great performance, it hasn’t been without its critics. For example, back in late 2021, GM opened an investigation into the transmission after receiving many reports related to various problems.
Eventually, GM began using an updated Die 3 transmission design for Stingrays Late in the 2023 model year and continuing into the 2024s. From a previous article, we do know that the new transmissions went into the 2023 Stingrays beginning with sequence NUMBER 37,263 and the 70th Anniversary Stingrays at VIN 3905. Based on a letter posted on the Corvette Action Center website, it appears that affected customers will receive a notification explaining the situation for their car.
Customer Satisfaction Bulletin #N232427051 It requires replacing the tranny and 15 to 18 plus hrs. to re do.
Hope mine is not effected but Not a HAPPY camper! Maybe Boeing is doing their qa/qc work. LOL Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to my Chevy dealer to discuss the replacement of our C8 trannies. Has anyone else done so?
The service manager explained that the bulletin was just info for Chevy Service people to be aware of, but was NOT a RECALL.
He reassured me that the trans & engine were covered by warranty for 60k miles and if a trans issue developed, bring the car back.

My 23 was built in January of 2023 with a VIN ending in 21853. I checked with the dealer and they said there is nothing "Open" for my car in the system, so I should be good.

C7Me: If it makes you feel any better: I have an early 2023 and we are in the same boat.
.............As a matter of fact. I've noticed that my trans holds the throttle at up, after I lift my foot and expect it to shift up and drop revs.
Has anyone else had this issue? Is a simple vacuum sensor issue?

My 23 Z06 was built the last week of September 2023- since GM is not providing the affected VINs, do I call/email a dealer service department to see if my VIN is affected? Or do I need to physically bring the car in for them to inspect for the improperly torqued bolts?

Everyone is in a big panic over this small numbers of cars. Best thing to do is relax, leave the service departments alone, and we'll all find out soon enough if our cars are impacted...

GM is going to contact owners that are impacted. When that process starts, you'll also be able to check your VIN to see the status -- it just hasn't happened yet.

Yeah, I'm not panicking. Even if I'm one of the ones "affected", I'll likely keep using the original DCT until right before the replacement program ends in May 2026 (unless it fails before that), so that I have a fresh transmission with whatever design improvements are made to these DCTs over the next 2 years.
